The Football News Thread 2025/26

Doubt it’ll anymore than 2/3 points so they’d still have a good chance of staying up
Pretty sure it's already confirmed it's 2 for what they've done. Usual EFL balls up as if found guilty they'll appeal and the result will be after the leagues finished.

Brings Leicester back into it as well

Well then the deduction should be just enough to drop them below Oxford and Leicester at the end of the season.

Happy 67th birthday to Sheffield United legend, Jimmy Muir!

Will we ever forget that last minute penalty he scored against Man Utd to get Sheffield United to the 1996 FA Cup final?

So the silly contention is simply moved a yard forward. Who could have predicted this?
I am not sure if its rational or irrational to be as annoyed about this as I am.

For me this is worse than VAR. As VAR could have been a good thing to introduce if done properly

This is just fucking ridiculous and without any level of thought it's clear how this will impact the game.

They should never have complicated the offside rule in the first place. The introduction of 'interfering with play' was a stupid idea and has led us directly to this.

VAR Lite rejected for Championship next season:

Fuck VAR
Ironically I don't hate it, although I'd reduce it to 1. We see on here and elsewhere all the time when VAR corrects an obviously wrong decision comments along the lines of 'that's why we need it'. This would cover those.

I am mostly pro VAR but regardless I would have loved that to pass today, less than 24 hrs after all the "at least its a proper league with no VAR" smugging.

Been some shocking decisions at that level when I have watched this season that VAR would overturn.
