The FIFA Debacle

First thing the new president should do is set up a way FIFA can be audited and regulated independently.

I think, despite what his people have been saying he realised that he couldn't go to Canada without risking arrest.

Blatter to Swiss TV on Friday: "Why would I step down? That would mean I recognise that I did wrong."

This was the last thing I expected after his rhetoric the last few days. Something must have come up evidence-wise that we don't know about. I wonder if the FBI had people waiting to arrest him as he walked off stage.

I do hope so. haven't liked the FBI this much since X-Files premiered

I'd like to see USA get 2022.

a) For their work in cleaning-up FIFA
b) It would follow on from Russia, meaning both countries would pull-out all the stops to try and outdo each other.

I agree - USA should definitely get it instead of Qatar as a thank you from world football for having the balls to take this wanker down.

All nations should be allowed to bid again with the original bid from 2010.

USA only had it 20 years ago. Share the love. Australia would be a good host.

:disco:

Seriously though, we feel high and mighty enough as it is. I'm with JD, re-open the bidding as normal for everyone to take part in. For all we know the US used bribes too, just not more than Qatar.

In fairness, that 20 years has seen a ridiculous amount of growth in the sport here.

I'd prefer the kick off times if it was held in the USA.

True that, JD. The US U20 match in New Zealand today kicked off at 3am! I'm not about that life.

If you let Diana Ross take a penalty again you will be OSTRACISED

Considering I've never heard of this happening before, I'm assuming that we've realized our mistake.

USA 1994 opening ceremony. No goalkeeper. All she had to do was kick it into an empty net as part of the choreography. Blatted it over the bar Waddle-style.
