Setting himself up for a win from the pitlane...

"Contract Recognition Board decision on Alpine v Oscar Piastri: "The only Contract to be recognised by is the Contract between McLaren Racing Limited and Mr Piastri dated 4 July 2022. Mr Piastri is entitled to drive for McLaren Racing for the 2023 and 2024 seasons"

Ferrari strike again!

Red Bull getting all the luck with SCs but also making the right calls 100% of the time. Mercedes got stuffed by it but could have handled it better

Don't think it mattered what call they made, they weren't winning after the SC.
Probably should have gone for softs though on both and bagged 2nd and 3rd spots. George knew the right call.

Top stuff on Sainz's pit stop. Yep lads, you just need the 3 tyres on these cars.

Was more reference to getting the VSC in the first place and then a second SC. Hamilton was quicker than mediums to may have been able to battle but the second SC killed that. May have still been able to battle soft on soft as they had the pace this weekend.

Slight issue for Ferrari on their way to Monza

New power unit for Lewis this weekend. Outside his allocation, so to the back of the grid he goes

At the front of the grid there will be penalties for Lewis, Sainz, Perez and Max.

Tbf you can overtake at Monza but the first chicane (and second) is messy so need to try and keep your nose clean. Particularly if those 4 are going to be out of position and having a clear speed advantage round curva grande.

Hope Merc can sort out their straight line speed issues or it’s going to be a rough weekend

Merc seemed to be a lot closer last weekend. The cynic in me says that now the FIA is looking more closely at the planks underneath that it has taken a little speed off Red Bull and Ferrari.

Albon out for the rest of the weekend. Off to have his appendix removed. De Vries stepping in

Love the mad confusion when a load of drivers get penalties.

Le Clerc on pole and only driver (I think) in the top 10 who starts where he qualified.

Then the fun.
Max qualified 2nd and has a 5 place penalty, so obviously starts 4th
Perez qualified 4th and with his 10 place penalty, starts 10th.

Russell from 6th starts 2nd. Lando up to 3rd

3 drivers got back of the grid pens, rather than place pens. Lewis starts 19th, Sainz 18th.

de Vries starts his first F1 race in 8th. The fact he got 12th was impressive as an hour before P3 he had no clue he was driving at all

However, remember that he drove for Aston Martin in FP1, so in reality he only missed one session.

I can't remember the last time that someone drove two different makes of car; or used two different numbers in one GP weekend. It was relatively common in the 1950s before "shared drives" were banned, but since then? No clue.
