The F1 Thread

an accident nonetheless. .

Maybe it wasn't...

Although race stewards declined to investigate the clash, Hamilton has claimed that, in a post-race hearing convened by the Mercedes management, Rosberg admitted his lunge into the rear of the sister W05 was a premeditated response to the team orders controversy of the Hungarian GP last month.

“We just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose. He said he did it on purpose. He said he could have avoided it," Hamilton told reporters. "He basically said ‘I did it to prove a point’.

“You don’t have to just rely on me, go and ask Toto [Wolff] or Paddy [Lowe] who are not happy with him as well.”

2 issues on this now (a Mercedes spokesperson has confirmed what Lewis had said is what happened)

1) What the hell do Mercedes now do?
2) Can/Will the FIA step in on this one? For a driver to say he caused a collision on purpose surely has to be looked at it even if they originally deemed it acceptable

They should suspend/fine him in some way..they just cannot let this slip through their hands

Disqualify him from this race and suspend him from monza? It has never come up before so close to the race I don't think. Schumi always claimed he didn't take hill out deliberately and it took senna years to admit he deliberately crashed into Prost at suzuka.

Despite Schumacher's claims of innocence, I did not have any doubt that he knew exactly what he was doing.

And as for Rosberg, if he did deliberately take Hamilton out then action must be taken. At the speed they go at any contact can result in a serious accident, and any premeditated decisions to make contact with another car is just not acceptable.

Wolff has said that Rosberg hasn't deliberately hit Hamilton. Lewis didn't even say that.

He's put his car in an awkward position and he could and should have pulled out of it but that is a far cry from hitting your team mate off. Still daft, but it's hardly a Senna Suzuka moment.

Wolff has said that Rosberg hasn't deliberately hit Hamilton. Lewis didn't even say that.

.

Lewis did say that but Wolff is saying he has taken his explanation the wrong way when Nico said he could have avoided but had a point to prove (From Hamilton's view that means he took him out of the race on purpose but Wolff's is Nico was saying Lewis should have moved out of the way for him as he had made the move)

Nico didn't mean to hit him, just bad judgement from him and more shitty luck for Hamilton.

Rosberg has accepted responsibility for the incident with Hamilton and has been disciplined by Mercedes (they won't say what though)
Drivers are still allowed to race each other and no team orders will be used but warned about driving like pricks (or words to that effect in German no doubt).

Mercedes have said that if Hamilton and Rosberg do not work together within the team, then one of them may be released.
