The Darts Thread

BDO has started today (13:00). It's on Eurosport and Quest.
 
After two sets, current averages are around 86 each. That's Mark McGeeny who was in the final last year.
 
The huge difference for me is when they miss the treble 20, the PDC players miss it by a couple of mm most times. These blokes miss it by a centimetre or more.

There are some nice individual throws but the consistency isn't the same. The finishing is of lower quality as well. Much lower.

There is literally no point in offering a cash prize for highest finish any more in the PDC. Most tournaments have at least a couple of 170 outs. Offering it here says it all.

Twice McGeeney has hit a 180 in the few minutes I have watched and then followed it with a bag of nails.

It does a lot of support for the county scene, but to even call this the world championship is a total joke.
 
This announcer is terrible and the lines the commentators are being fed to “promote the bdo” arent that great either

I want Widmayer to win, simply because he comes out to Metallica.

The county scene is good and theres some quality players but they soon jump to the pdc when theyre good enough to win a tour card
 
Which is why I go back to my initial statement of Im surprised the bdo is still going because the morecgood players they lose especially the committed ones the more sub money they lose.
 
When the BBC gave up on this I thought that would be it with no TV cash, but presumably Eurosport and Quest have given just about enough to keep it viable.

You also forget how small the Lakeside is compared to Ally Pally. And yet it is bigger in terms of capacity than the old circus tavern (which was a brilliant venue to go to as a spectator).

Averages in this 86 v 89. Awesome.
 
I thought the same when BT Sport gave up on it. To think the bbc gave up england internationals for this
 
When Mason said "and he is down to 36 after only 15 darts" I wondered if he was pissing himself inside.
 
I think Chris Mason has no sense of humour. I remember seeing him on a bus in Hednesford, he certainly thinks something of himself.
 
He is a fairly unpleasant person. In many ways.

Christ how many times do these BDO players mis-count? It's criminal.
