The Darts Thread

Looks like Simon Whitlock is losing his tour card. Currently ranked 60th, lost in the PDPA qualifier today so not going to Ally Pally (first time since 2009), and had a R1 victory from 2023 to defend in terms of prize money so he'll be dropping below 64th.

Think Vincent van der Voort is almost certainly gone as well, and quite probably Mervyn King if he doesn't qualify today.

Steve Beaton is retiring too no matter what happens here and Adrian Lewis still isn't playing, so will lose his card by default (not that he's played anything for nearly two years).

Beaton knocked out in the first round so that's him done.

Pretty sure if you asked AI to draw an 80s/90s darts player, it'd draw Steve Beaton.

Just Googled him as never heard of the bloke

Think I'm leaving here for today at least and concentrating on my work as I'm having a fucking mare

Didn't qualify.

That's a costly 5 missed darts. £6,000 down from last night and you're guaranteed £7,500 even if you lose in the first round at the Worlds.

No chance as he didn’t have the beer gut to match other 80s/90s players.
 
So did Thommo base his look on £1m Jackie or Steve Beaton?
 
Thommo was one of those who could grow a full tache when he was 15 and decided he'd stick with it. I can't now and I'm nearly 44, so fair play.

Mervyn King didn't qualify so he's very likely to lose his card. First time he's not played at the PDC Worlds since 2007, first time he's not played at any World Championships since 1996.
