The Cricket Thread

Well. That just happened.

Now off to Wolverhampton to watch Munetsi ‘leave it all out there’.

A, erm, character building weekend.

In our last 16 test matches in Australia we read as PL 16 W 0 D2 L14

Bar the packer years and a brief bit of the late eighties when they were briefly a bit average, if not shit, it has been pretty much like that since Jardine and Larwood

Losing a series in Australia fair enough that’s no disgrace it’s the 4-0 & 5-0 batterings we’ve had that hurts. 82/83 lost 2-1, 94/95 lost 3-1, 98/99 lost 3-1 all defeats but not walking away mauled.
I think we’ll probably win a dead rubber in Sydney or Melbourne and walk away grateful we weren’t whitewashed.
On the whole I agree that England only win this side of WW2 in Australia when they’ve got a very shit side. 78/79 I think was a virtual B team, 86/87 very poor Australia side.
2010/11 very average side some good players but all ageing and past their best.

I thought that was the dead rubber win when Darren Gough bowled quite well. I may have the wrong series then.

Gough got a hat-trick in that game, 02/03 was a dead rubber win in Sydney when we lost 4-1 but the players paraded around like they’d won the series.

Can’t believe what I watched, couldn’t sleep for excitement ahead of day one, 4am this morning was all looking nice and rosey and by 10am was job done and dusted! Stokes needs to have a serious look at tactics. Onwards and upwards! UTB (Up The Bazball)

Bazball is entertaining and works well in the absolute niche conditions but what’s most entertaining is winning matches and series.

Looks like Mark Wood out of second test. Knee problem again.

Cummins definitely out for convict CC

I am expecting a bit of a green Gabba pitch. It has been pretty hot the last few weeks but storm season has really kicked in with some monster thunderstorms. They have been almost daily here for at least two weeks so a LOT of rain.

Jacks in for Wood in a bit of a surprise move.

Lyon has done well in pink ball tests though and it strengthens our batting.

Just arrived in Brisbane, hoping it lasts longer than 2 days 😂

Khawaja out so expect Travis Head to open.

Hope you like Brizvegas. Have a look at Caxton Street down by Suncorp stadium for a couple of decent watering holes.
