Durham did totally collapse!

27/1 at lunch. All out for 85 inside an hour and a bit and relegated.

We've already named our team vs NZ for Saturday

Salt
Buttler (wk)
Bethell
Brook (c)
Banton
Curran
Cox
Carse
Dawson
Rashid
Wood

Yes we are fielding Cox at 7, even though he's not keeping. We'll need Curran to bowl all his overs too, which he rarely does in internationals

Guess which of the bowlers got tonked round the park at more than 12 an over?

Score card for our top 7 in NZ makes interesting reading

Smith 0
Duckett 2
Root 2
Bethell 2
Brook 135
Buttler 4
Curran 6

Jamie Overton (46) the only other player to make double figures, as NZ are cruising to a win

Proper village cricket stuff, when a lad from the firsts doesn't get picked so drops down to play for fourths because they're a man short.

Also how the living fuck are Overton and Curran 40% of our attack, how is that ever going to work.

Cummins definitely out of the First Test

Central contracts dished out, more notable for who's not on there really:

Bairstow (finally, nearly 18 months since he last played in any format for England)
Leach
Livingstone
Stone
Topley

Curran has somehow got a 2 year deal, based on what I do not know, not like he's even been very good since we brought him back (certainly not with the ball, and he isn't good enough to play as a specialist batsman)

25. I’m still trying to work out the one missing England player but I’m sure I’m at a grinding halt on Aussies.

32, missed two Aussies and one Englishman

24

God only knows how I missed a current England player and I’m guessing the other is the one nobody will get.

15 attempts at attempting to spelling Kaspa was all in vain too.

Christ only missed 2 Aussies but 4 englishmen... (one out top 10 ffs)

Loathe to align myself with the ‘has beens’, but more specifically the pitch for the warm up game sounds particularly useless for the purpose. The description of Brook’s knock makes it seem like the venue could have been better planned.

Hmmm - well it sort of needs to be in Perth as a six hour flight from other states would have been sub-optimal. Optus is out of the question as they need to get the test pitch together and there is a sheffield shield game at the WACA. So there weren't really a lot of options.

Wood injured - suspected hamstring - on first day of the tour. Bad news but sadly not surprising.
