A truly awful spell from Stokes! Unthreatening short stuff and a ridiculous amount of no balls.

But he brings Root on and he gets Pant

I see that Dan Mouseley has come in from the cold with a 50 and getting the key wicket of Moeen Ali.
Another tonight, keeping his place ahead of Yates. Seems to be coming of age. Scoring shedloads for the 2s as well. I noticed Darren Maddy's lad scored a ton for them this week

Good game in the T20 Blast. Hampshire v Gloucester. Some great death bowling at the end gave Hampshire the win by 15 runs.
Weird to hear Hi-Ho Silver Lightning at the end.

Most economical figures and with the prize wicket of the former world No 1 t20 batsmen too.

Terrible over from Broad. 35 runs to the tail enders
Length control gone completely.

Siraj gone
Anderson another fivefor 5-60

416 all out
poor bowling from England overall. Lost the plot at times,

All part of the new aggressive style. New ball, grey sky, bounce the number 10. I don't agree with it, but it's the new way so have to take the bad with the good

Lees missed that by a mile, played completely the wrong line

Rain stops play

early Lunch taken

Because it's the new way doesn't make it the right way, as in so many aspects of life.
Broad's lack of control was akin to Stokes yesterday. There is no excuse for it, it's just giving runs away.

The bigger issue for me is if that's the way you want to play then Broad isn't the man. With the discovery of Potts I think we need something different with the 3rd seamer particularly if you want one to be an enforcer with the new ball. Wood, Stone and Archer all break too easily and Overton's bowling in the last Test wasn't any better than alright, but he's the only real option if that's the way you want to go.

May as well bring Buttler in to open if we want batsmen to drive at every ball
