Sunderland (A) Build-up and match thread

There were 200 when I was there and a big queue. Wont be many left now.

Definitely no more after that as well.

Shame but can see why Sunderland would want to avoid a party in their ground. Not something they are used to holding.

Sunderland should increase our allocation. It sucks for them and they probably don't want to host someone else's party but they could take in the cash
Putting myself in their shoes, I wouldn't want 5/6k opposition fans celebrating at Molineux whilst at the same time we are going down.

Got mine yesterday. Always had a decent day put up there. Although the early start might put pay to the prematch drinks.

I despise that club (Sunderland). Last time Newcastle played at stadium of light (the real deal one, not their sorry ass stadium), I had about 5 English lads next to me. I started a Sunderland is shit chant and I had free beer the rest of the night. I hope they enjoy visiting Luton town next year.

You see there is a really good atmosphere between Wolves and Sunderland teams and fans. A great history of former players and a certain manager. We have never had a problem and there is a lot of mutual respect

Indeed, their fans have no delusion of grandeur as there is with Toon fans. For a club that last won something when Ceasar was alive they've got some deluded ideas.

Fuck Lee Howey though

But he's definitely the exception

So now Sunderland are relegated and so there is no chance of last day heroics against us, which could have attracted a large Sunderland crowd, will they now give us more tickets? I have noted that they have not yet put our match on general sale....

No chance. Geordies trying to have their mock-in has put paid to that. That and celtics 9k pre-season misbehaving.

Nothing to do with either of those things. They just don't offer away sides any more than the standard 2.5k because of where the away end is.

Yeah I think that's probably the case, I was just hoping that as they are not on general sale to their fans they have been waiting to see if anything was riding on it for them

Harken back to the days when they had Sessegnon (the Beninese one) and Asamoah Gyan in their side. What a pair those two could have been. Alas, it wasn't to be.

Lucky for me. I was *this* close to supporting them back when I chose a club.

I wonder what happened to the Mackem who used to post on here. He was an all right guy, as I recall. Shame for him. Shame for the club.

Sunderlands reasons for rejecting our request for additonal tickets

"We gave full consideration to this request when it was first made by Wolves a few weeks ago.

"To put some context into the issue, the away supporters are situated in the upper north stand at the Stadium of Light, the east end of the away section is the end of the stand itself.

"With this in mind, the only additional seats that logistically we could consider allocating to Wolves supporters were in the upper north west corner.

"This corner houses a significant number of Sunderland season card holders, many of whom have held their seats for many years.

"Given that these supporters will already be relocated when this area closes next season, we felt it would be insensitive to relocate them for the final match of the season.

"We did look at other areas within the lower bowl of the stadium, but again due to the presence of home season card holders there is no area we can safely allocate to Wolves supporters.

"We appreciate that this will be disappointing for our visitors, but we hope they understand that we made best endeavours to meet their request, but unfortunately is has not been possible for the reasons outlined above."

Not been keen on Sunderland ever since I had a wing mirror ripped off the car outside Roker Park by their fans. As far as I am concerned they can keep dropping.

Not sure why they have an away end that inflexible. When the stadium has 20k empty seats I’m not sure why they have Home supporter STH that close to the away fans. After all, in the PL they would have had to offer at least 3k and for cup matches they would have to offer more as well so these STHs wouldn’t be able to sit in their normal seat anyway.

tried to buy one in the Home seats you need history, considered buying an away ticket then a Wolves ticket but i'll not bother all very disappointing...
