Not what I said though, I said I could see it as a possibility, explained why and then you've gone on a massive rant about it.
"Massive rant" :D

I've just pointed out why it's patent nonsense, along with a load of other shite on here lately.

It's a "possibility" that Westlife will reform and produce a song that's even better than Strawberry Fields Forever. Just my opinion.

I mean, there is a slim but unlikely possibility, that as can happen when players of any sport come back from serious injury, Raul has found it difficult to regain his former ability or his former desire. When that happens it isn't unknown for sportspeople to decide they've had enough. That certainly doesn't seem to be the case here, but it isn't totally absurd an idea. Us selling him is far more unrealistic you'd have thought.

The fundamental reason why i think Raul *might* retire is due to the life-threatening injury he suffered, as i think that kind of experience would shape anyone's thinking as to whether they want to continue or not. That coupled with him not playing as well, and my own view is that he doesn't look "right" and also him already being a millionaire and thus not needing the money would all be factors as to why he might retire early. He'll know himself that he's not at the levels he was, and that's got to depressing.

If I balance up the reasons as to why he might retire vs why he might carry on playing, to me, it's not a slam dunk for him to carry on. Realistically what's he got after the world cup finishes except more of the same, a bit part at Wolves (when Fabio & Sasa come back) and a general down-ward trend for the rest of his career. He might decide he doesn't want to do that.

It’s all just very weird on here at the minute. Chat shit get cyber banged, then moan about getting banged? Is that not the point of this place, to interact, to disagree, to debate. Or are we just supposed to state our opinion and then walk off?

Then people are saying stuff they dont think is going to happen, it’s challenged, and then defending to the hilt that it might.

Person A - it’s going to be 40 degrees tomorrow.

Person B - no it’s not, it’s September, it’s raining today and it’s currently 17 degrees.

Person A - but it might be.

Person B - no it won’t.

Person A - it might not be but it fucking could be OK, you don’t know it won’t be, so just accept that that is my opinion!!!1

So weird.

I don't really care what anyone else chooses to believe but if they in turn choose to put it on a public forum and it's fucking bollocks, what do you expect?!

Your honest view is "Raul Jimenez will retire in January. Just my opinion". And you think that'll go unchallenged.

Sorry but no.
He didn't say that and neither did I

No, you said we'd sell him and that is not going to happen, then you said it was his decision and not ours which makes no sense.

But thanks for clarifying.

I do think though that if Raul told the club he wanted to leave then the club wouldn't stand in his way.

It's semantics, but i don't think the club would hold Raul here "against his will" so to speak. I think that's what BBW07 was getting at.

So not retiring and not going of his own volition.

1) He'd have retired before now if that was the case
2) How can you possibly know what Raul has in the bank
3) Just admit it was a fucking stupid attention seeking load of shite ffs.

We really should have a trash thread, which we can move these discussions too, then Visage can delete it every 6 months to help speed up the forum...

I think it's possible, he doesn't look the same to me and I wonder if his heart is still in it. He could easily retire now if he wanted to.
Could I suggest a situation to you?
If you were at work, and after a while you thought this job is shit, and you were earning £5.200,000 (that's 5.2 million quid) a year, would you gaze out of the window and think, "Na, fuck it, I'm off!"

1) How can you know that? Everyone suffers differently post-trauma along with everyone having their own reasons / drivers / motivations
2) He's a 31 y/o international professional footballer, it's fairly safe to assume he has a retirement plan already sorted
3) You think I posted my opinion to get attention on a msg board? Blimey

Again, to re-iterate, I don't think he's definitely retiring, more that another poster suggested it and i though "I could maybe see that happening". For the avoidance of doubt, I don't think he will retire, as I said "it's not a slam dunk for him to carry on". That means I think he most likely will carry on.

It's different though isn't it, I don't earn £5.2m per year and I'm not (yet) in a position where I can retire.

If I've had a life-threatening injury doing my job, and now I'm not able to do the job as well as I could before, I'm financially comfortable and doing my job exposes me to the same life-threatening injury I'm certainly thinking twice about whether I want to carry on or not.

Actually, I've always wondered where is the motivation for multi-millionaires to carry on working at all. Top sports stars, entertainers whatever must surely have enough in the bank to support themselves and generations of descendants in luxury. Where's the incentive for Ronnie O'Sullivan or Kanyae West to get out of bed and ply their trade? Clearly, there is one, because they do so, but most people who win the lottery just retire from their day job with rather less than these guys have.
