Summer 2022 Transfer Window

In a lot of past situations it would feel more problematic than it is, but we're so clearly set up so that the board and scouting team are in charge of transfers rather than the manager. Even at his peak Nuno was still more of a head coach than a traditional British-style manager, and I doubt that'll change any time soon, so in terms of who replaces Lage it's really just kind of neutral.

Overall the squad has been improved in quality this window, beyond what I ever expected. The key is to get someone in who can make it work, but by definition we're only ever going to be going for candidates who would be happy to have transfers done above their head, transfer window being open or not.

Bizarrely, considering the shit on the pitch, this might be our best premier league window ever.
It absolutely is, provided they don't go mad and flog Neves this afternoon. Get a decent manager in, and the first 11 and the squad in general is significantly stronger than it was at the end of last season.

Dendoncker is shit, £15M is good value for him and I'll be happy to never see him play for us again but he needs to be replaced. We had Dendoncker and Ronan on the bench last night, both needed to be upgraded.

Imagine going a whole season with only three senior CMs - unimaginable...

Not concerned about the individual leaving, do think it leaves us light though even if the other Traore comes in. I'll be on my own here, but Maitland Niles is going to Southampton on loan, he'd be a decent utility option

Rui
Jonny
Boly made permanent
Vinagre made permanent (when we thought he had something)
Moutinho
Dendoncker (when he was good)
Adama (yes, I know)
Raul
Jota made permanent
Leo made permanent (lolz)
Flipping Badge Kissing Ben for profit
Kilman (the ultimate low key deal at the time...but look how it turned out)

Still think that was slightly better.

Maitland-Niles is a 5/10 player in loads of positions, I might have been interested two years ago but everything he's done since makes it a no.

The annoying thing is Hwang's not even going to play any more and is 3rd choice in every forward position. Boggles the mind.

We'll be looking to offload him in January, probably for half what we could have got for him from Leeds.

Fair, plus making Hwang permanent is a massive negative on this window.

We reject 17mill for Hwang, but let Barca have Adama on loan for nowt with no obligation.

What the fuck?

He's gash

Paying £7m for Dawson if he comes. I'd sooner take the chance of playing Gomes.
Ridiculous fee if true. Can only assume Denayer isn't interested otherwise I don't see the logic at all. Spoils what has been a fabulous window.
