Summer 2022 Transfer Window

I think it's fairly obvious we have a deal agreed for Palinha but we want to wait as long as possible to see what happens with Neves.

We really shouldn't be, but we've probably got other more tasty targets in that position too, so don't want to get pot committed with lesser players, to coin a poker phrase.

It's a risky strategy and depends how long the player is willing to wait. If he's keen on coming to us more than Fulham, he'll wait. Both deals are likely all agreed IMO.

Yes, I agree there. But if Flum want to offer him nonsense money then that is their lookout.

HOWEVER, we do sort of need to start seeing something happen in a more positive fashion soon as treading water isn't really an option in our position.

We seem to have been after Palhinha for quite awhile so if they do miss out on him now it really does smack of a total lack of competence. As it is I think we're run a by a bunch of morons so it would only help confirm what I already think.

If you read fans reports or writers from other country they all get annoyed with the spending power the premier league clubs have, which is why it's annoying that Wolves are constantly acting like we are Hibs.

Apparently we are preparing a 40m bid for Sporting’s Nunes. As if we’d spend that.

We’re just going to throw in load of bids for players that aren’t quite high enough to get accepted so it looks like we’re making an effort aren’t we? Classic Jeff.

Using Palhinha to get close to his more attractive mate then dropping him when our flirting pays off...

How do you know we are FFS?
Do we transmit the air of a team that is in a league that is lauded for its wealth, or are we seeming to continue our small squad and struggling to get deals done over the likes of Fulham? It's not just this deal Paddy, it's a wider point.

I agree apart from the tastier targets bit. There is no evidence past or present that thats the case. Also if we are only willing to spend a small fee IF we sell Neves, we certainly aren’t going to be spending a bigger fee on a better player if we keep him.

We have to sell Neves though as Deano said. A club who apparently has no profit excluding player sales (which is bollocks but this is what they say) can’t afford to let their best asset depreciate. The only option IMO if he isn’t sold this summer is a one year extension with a favourable buy out in the £35m range to give him assurances he could leave and us protection on the fee.

There's absolutely zero chance Nunes would be interested in us, never mind how likely it is we'd stump up for him. He's going to the very top.

I meant in the sense that if we get £60m+ for Neves that gives us the money to go after better targets.

If that's the case. Which it probably isn't.

What makes people so sure he's only going there for the money? Perhaps it's because he actually feels like they actively want him as opposed to our 'well kinda but we'd rather wait and see who leaves, who stays and who else we can get first'

The thing is, if your theory holds, we don't actually need him at the moment. You wouldn't want to pair him with Neves, Moutinho or Dendoncker, and we haven't signed an attacking midfielder to complement someone like that.

He wouldn't actually get in our team right now.
