I avoided sarcasm in the thread title.
I think most of us are resigned to Neves leaving and this makes sense if you ignore the Barcelona are skint element

It may be wishful thinking but I am not yet convinced he wants to leave. If we qualify for Europe (a big 'if') he may see that as satisfactory progress for Wolves.
Plus he is the only player we cannot afford to lose - unless Bruno has plans to transform our midfield and the way we play.

Barcelona have been linked with about £200m of talent in this morning’s rumours alone. They have no money. Ignore it.

People have been saying they have no money for some time but they are still able to get signings done. Not sure if Neves will go there but he should be looking to play CL football in the very near future he would walk into the 11 of a lot of Champions League teams.

Barcelona will always manage to get deals done through some kind of creative accounting process. I wouldn't rule it out based on them being broke, especially seeing as Rúben's agent is Jorge Mendes. Could be some kind of loan with obligation, player swap or staggered deal like the Jota transfer. We also owe them money for the Semedo transfer, they could write off a portion of that.

On a personal level I'd rather he went there than Arsenal or Man United.

It's been amazing and a pleasure to have watched a player as good as Neves, and I have come to the conclusion that for the sake of his own career/potential, he needs to move on from us.
The only way that doesn't happen (for me) is we see an insurgence of transfer activity ourselves this summer. Based on the headlines from the accounts yesterday, that is exceptionally unlikely.
Neves is far, far too good to be in a team just missing out on europa league conference football.

On a related note, there are links being made to Rafa Silva from Benfica. Is this lazy journalism linking is to Bruno's old club?

I think Neves enjoys his time at Wolves but it's all down to Fosun as to whether they want to push on to the next level or just plod along in lower/mid table obscurity. If the latter, then Neves will be sold without doubt. Such a shame as we've almost got a top 6 team.
Let's see.

Rafa is quality but he was one of the 'old guard' who basically downed tools and got Lage sacked by Benfica so I'd be very surprised if we signed him.

Said it before and I'll say it again. I've been gutted to see a few players leave over the years, but when Neves eventually goes and we have to see him pull on the shirt of another club, that will really, really hurt. Amazing bloke on and off the field and it's been an absolute pleasure to watch him in a Wolves shirt. I don't want us to sell him.

How seriously are we taking this talk of 'the great reset' in the Summer?

I'm not sure I've got enough internet time to cope with it tbh.

Possible outs:

Ruddy
Marcal
Boly
Saiss
Neves
Moutinho

Can also see Raul being replaced as top dog up front. Would be a hell of a lot of activity

I don't see us doing that much in one fell swoop, especially as we don't seem to want to spend the club's own money.

Letting Saiss and/or Moutinho go would be stupid (assuming they want to stay). Ruddy and Marçal will be no loss (though we do need to sign another keeper, the kids are a mixture of not ready or not good enough), Trincao can do one as well, so can Hoever if anyone will take him. It'll be sad when Boly leaves but ultimately he's played 0 minutes in the league all season. We'll try selling Cutrone before his deal runs out but I can only see another loan to another middling-to-rubbish Italian team.

Having Sarkic, Sanderson, Giles, Campbell Cundle, maybe even MGW, around the squad next year will not be a bad thing, but can't compensate for losing Saiss and Moutinho, and not buying a couple other first teamers. Don't mind losing all of Ruddy, Boly (sadly), Dendoncker, Trincao, Marcal, Hoever though - the six youngsters above are almost like for like sound replacements. I do worry if we don't qualify for the UEFA Cup (not conference) that we have probably had our last season with Neves, if we do qualify we might get one more year but our squad is desperately small to fight multiple competitions too. This summer will really tell us what Fosun's long term ambitions are

I've got a blind hope that the transfer of debt to equity has been done to allow us a monstrous few seasons in the market given the extra FFP wiggle room it's given us.

But I'm pretty stupid like that.

As if I wasnt pissed off enough already I go and read this thread which has cheered me up no end:cry:

The big question now is where is the cash going to come from? At the end of May 2021, Wolves had £35m in the bank, were owed £75m and owed £118m. (Not much different from the year before). Are Fosun going to pump in enough money to fund a monstrous few seasons in the transfer market?

Taking Del's list I have a feeling the club will say something along the lines of 'we've got players coming back/ here already to replace -

Ruddy - Sarkic
Marcal - Jonny returning
Boly - Mosquera
Saiss - Gomes
Moutinho - Cundle

Apart from Cundle replacing João, the replacements are not a downgrade. There will then be an influx of kids/ young players to replace them.

We have replaced Adama with Chiquinho, Bolla will be assessed in the summer as will the Japanese and Korean signings from Jan. Jordao as well.

Neves sale is the one that is the key. Fuck that up and there will be tangible hate going Jeff's way.

It will allow Bruno to restructure his team into the one he wants.

If we buy some shithouse big lump like Dykes I'll be in the Bruno out train pretty fast.
