Spoilt Princesses moaning about Media Coverage of Wolves

By Christ, Spiers' latest bit on The Athletic is atrocious.

Whatever they're paying him, it's too much.
Cancelled my sub and think they are now offering me it for £9 a year or something ridiculously cheap. Don’t get how they’re making money

They've got a million subscribers globally, most of them in America I think.

I like what the Athletic offer generally, disappointing that they don't offer a Wolves podcast anymore, but i find their stuff pretty good, i'm not as much of a snob about Spiers as most though, so that makes it easier i guess.

It's not being a snob, he's just shite.

It is a bit snobby isn't it?

You write, so you are more critical, i get it, but that's not the same for me.

Sports journalism doesn't need to be amazingly crafted, it helps, but as long as it gets the information across, it doesn't matter.

So the Gomez loan is on?

We'd have more chance of TT sitting on the bench.

Yeah that seems incredibly unlikely, but it's just an opinion isn't it? Like the thousands of opinions written on here down the years that get agreed with or disagreed with.

I think we should sign Sergio Ramos. Just an opinion, like.

His style is jarring in the extreme and his actual thoughts on football (when he's not spoonfed stuff from the club) are nonsense.

The ideal scenario would be a Willian Jose-style loan solution. A player who comes in, does a job

I don't write and think he's fucking terrible. A clueless moron about the game the writes about.

I genuinely don't think there is a less clued up writer than Spiers. He just doesn't understand the game at all.

He makes Liam Kean read like Michael Calvin.

Clueless moron is a bit strong! I don't mind him personally. Only slight criticism is I wish he'd be a bit more robust in challenging the narrative the club come out with at times. He does come across as more of a mouthpiece than the other journos on The Athletic, imo.

He's miles behind anyone else at The Athletic bar Carl Anka, who they seem to have binned. It's like Dave Edwards playing alongside Ruben Neves.

I disagree on the latter, unless you are a breaking news merchant it needs to be well written and engaging, Spiers does sometimes hit both marks but quite often it's neither.

I'm a subscriber due to the NFL and boxing content primarily, however if you read Michael Cox's stuff and then Spiers it's like going from an adult to a 10 year old kid in writing quality.

He has improved since the e&s days where I'm assuming time and editor pressure contributed but to my knowledge I think I've only read about 5 of his athletic pieces and thought, good article.

Spiers was better on the podcast. Less bantz than with Judah and dropped the odd interesting piece of info in, which doesn't appear in his writing. I don't hate his Athletic stuff, I just rarely read it and feel I've learnt anything when it comes to the on field stuff.

Disgraceful journalism in the Athletic this morning!! "After departing Wolves in 1967, Flowers then had a two-year spell at Doncaster, before finishing his career with non-League Wellington Town (now known as Telford United) in 1971. He was also player/manager at both Doncaster and Wellington."

Absolutely insulting to Ron and his family not even getting the facts right!
