my irish colleague was explaining yesterday to me how it was certain that australia would beat england, and he was also supremely confident ireland would beat the all blacks, as they're the only team to have consistently done so in recent history. I explained ireland had essentially looked poor to me, and were only through because scotland are even worse. He wasn't a happy bunny. He might be less so now.

I'm almost tempted to put a bet on japan as he forecast them to lose. He also forecast france to lose, but I can't bring myself to bet on them!

Sounds like he know about as much about rugby as my 9 year old daughter (who hates the game).

They operated on a different level to us today, punished every mistake and we made plenty

I don't claim to be knowledgeable about rugby, and I believe his main sport is gaelic football, but even I was gobsmacked by his view.

Ireland peaked last year and entered the World Cup on a downward trajectory. However they shouldn’t have lost to Japan meaning they’d have had a more winnable game against SA.
No one would have beaten the all blacks today but Ireland made it far to easy for them. Handling errors and not finding touch in the corner early on from a penalty was just criminal against NZ.
Personally I wouldn’t give England anything over a 20% chance next Saturday and the same for whoever plays them in the final.
