REFERENDUM RESULTS AND DISCUSSION THREAD

Whatever they come up with will come with compromises on both sides as that's how deals work - no one ever gets 100% of their initial stance.

There will always be some on both edges that will denounce it & would have whatever it contained. Whether you voted remain or leave some arrangement is better than throwing rocks at each other as both sides get significantly damaged.
Fuck that. I voted for no change so any deal that makes us worse off is fucking shite.

We’ve capitulated by the looks of things which makes us worse off.

I still think people that voted for Brexit are fucking morons and this deal does not change that.

No one could have voted for 'no change' - even if you wanted strongly to remain then the EU has to continue down the route of convergence & ultimately into a single country otherwise the tensions & opt outs will pull it apart eventually. A single currency with all required to use it & a central coordinating point would have been needed.

And calling those who voted the other way 'morons' is really not necessary.

This just isn’t true at all.

Any part of it.

Not worth discussing this issue on here really as it's a one way street - nothing in life is that certain either way.

I call you absolutely right there. It will be bad for them. It will be worse for us. And that’s economically. Unfortunately we then have to factor in all the benefits from a personal point of view that have just been cast on a bonfire.

The buck now stops at Westminster. The corporates will always carve the cake in their favour so mutual destruction was never on the cards.

Not sure that we can say yet who it will be worse for - yes a lower % of overall exports to us than elsewhere in the world, but they sell more to us than we do to them as a total.

Some of the benefits personally I have never seen as an issue - freedom of movement was not really a long term issue even if it might have needed some tweaking.

Losing medical insurance and also only having restricted visits is a huge loss.
Will have to see the full text, but indications from what I have seen so far is that the medical situation is part of the agreement (though none of us now that for certain just now).

Restricted visits may have been resolved as well, but will wait for the details before commentating further.

ENIC cards are done. Over. Toast. So free medical insurance to visit the continent is about as live as the python parrot. Cheers Boris.

Not sure that that is a certainty at the moment as none of us have the details - you may well be correct, but would you go overseas anywhere without full medical insurance cover?

The European version never covered all situations anyway.

ENIC is no biggy, you wouldn't go abroad without additional covet anyway.....would you?

It was great when my FiL was alive as it meant he could go on holiday and have his dialysis without the need to pay (bar a £50 admin fee) Frigging expensive otherwise especially when you need 3 treatments a week

The ENIC card was a good back up just in case of minor ailments, on a personal level, now makes bike touring Europe harder, 90 days in the EU, then 90 days outside( Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, some bits of the Balkans) then back in again, rather than 180 days anywhere and being able to take your time, but hey blue passports( printed in Poland by a French company)
