Premier League: Relegation Race

Yeah, just shows how poor or form is when you see those other clubs mentioned!
Yep it is poor form, but despite that the sides below us arent closing the gap to us. No relegation fears

Chelssa have taken 11 points from their last 10

Worship the ground that Nuno walks on but I'm more concerned that he doesn't have the ability to push on from 6th place than are we getting relegated. of course it's mathematically possible for us to go down but I do think the permutations for it to happen are astronomical ! I chose to ignore the Champions league talk last season and I'm choosing to ignore any thoughts of relegation this one.

Not really at the moment - we are having a 'difficult period' but have enough to avoid that.

There is sufficient talent to pull us far enough away from danger though will still be a backward step from the last 2 years.

As I said an another thread, if people seriously don't believe we will as a minimum win 3 and draw 3 out of 19 games then they should take the 50/1 that is available. We aren't in a relegation battle, it is conceivable but highly unlikely we will ever be this season and even more unlikely that if we are it'll end in relegation. A week ago people were saying if Fulham win both their games in hand it'll be down to 4 points...they lost both and haven't won in the league for nearly 2 months
50/1 isn't available. 33/1 is the best price and I'd say that is about right. I backed Wolves to go down at 16/1 under Dean Saunders, but I don't even remotely think the situation now is comparable to that. We're in the bottom three of the form table and if you're not concerned about how we're playing then I'll have some of whatever you're drinking, but relegation? No - Willian Jose should be a big boost

Ok, there was 50/1 available last week, not sure it changes my point though

We're in poor form, and have looked pretty shit for most of the last 6 months, but we're nowhere near a relegation club. Not that's a good thing, or anything approaching an achievement.

I don't think we'll go down but that's more because SU, WBA and Fulham have been dreadful and are way behind. At the moment we are definitely looking down not up. At them moment I feel a little like I did in December 2018 when I couldn't see where the next win was coming from and we beat Chelsea with the aid of a wonder tackle from Bennett - if he had not made it we'd have gone 2-0 and I doubt we'd have come back to win. Hopefully we will see a similar catalyst, also against Chelsea, and can get back on track but even if we don't I think we will limp over the line.

I am concerned, 3 good years doesn't replace the worry and misery I have banked up from the rest of my time as a Wolves fan! It's a long way off the feeling leaving Hillsborough when Saunders was in charge though and we had just drawn 0-0 with only 1 shot on target. I told my brother we would go down that day and I think he got 33-1 on us after some searching. However it's still there.

A number of times a team in seemingly a decent position goes on an awful run and finds itself down around the relegation candidates. There is no such thing as too good to go down. I don't think we are there yet but we could be after the next five games. Losing to both Burnley and our West Brom neighbours doesn't help either as it closes a gap. Even a point in each game would have maintained a safe distance. It is fortunate that there are three clear favourite teams for the drop who have been very poor all season. The signing of a new striker does give me renewed confidence. We should be fine.

This team is nowhere near the standard of previously relegated Wolves sides. We've been awful lately, but we're not going to sustain that for another half a season. We'll certainly stay up, probably comfortably, and I wouldn't even be surprised if we have a little run at some point and finish around 10th.

Probably shouldn’t say we’re too good to go down, but we absolutely are

I wonder if the same Birmingham Mail reader is the thread starter...

No concerns over relegation.

I don't see relegation as a legitimate concern. I think finishing embarassingly close to the relegation zone is a possibility (~15th), but not that we'll actually enter it. our form is terrible but we're not gonna go on a 4 month losing streak nor are the bottom 3 going to start lighting the league on fire.

We are 10 points clear of the bottom 3, so there is a safe distance. Even if we lose the next 5 (I dont think we will) you would need Albion or Fulham to win 3 of their next 5 for us to be down there.

I'm not saying we are to good to go down, or it 100% wont happen, but we would need to be in such a terrible run of form that we would be looking for a new manager.

It would be ridiculous set of results to see us go down. Does that mean on our current run we are not in a relegation battle nope.

If we match what we got 1st half we are well clear, i fully expect us to do even better the rest of the season especially with our signings.

We need to start picking points up quickly

Only 3 points behind us, but I think Newcastle are in way more trouble than us.

They definitely are, not least as they only ever tend to fluke results, I mean look at the state of the point they robbed from Molineux (a phantom FK that should still have been saved, and their only shot in the entire second half).

Their results are now matching their performances and they have the worst manager in the division, with nothing to spend this month.
