I think there was, wasn't it Mendes that orchestrated them signing that useless Portuguese keeper when their new owners took over? Seem to remember we mentioned the hypocrisy after their bleating about us using Mendes

Sounds as if it floats somewhere between the original 4231 with the double pivot and a proper number 10 afforded lots of freedom ahead and something similar to what Pellegrini did at City with the wide players coming narrower to make it more of a 4222. Don't think it will ultimately change the shopping list too much from what it was a month ago.

Wouldn't really be any different to the last 4 years in terms of creativity from central midfield, though having a forward dropping off almost playing like a proper number ten would give more options for playing through the middle.

True. It is interesting to see examples of other managers who've got decent jobs for similar 'who you are/who you know' reasons though.
Although I'm not convinced Bruno will be our Zidane 😉
 
The Felix role described in that article sounds a good fit for MGW
 
Wish they’d just announce it.

3 weeks since Nuno was sacked, nearly a week since the WP was allegedly granted.

And as he was lined up months ago with no process I’m not sure what the hold up is.

He's right though. MGW improved and showed some good form at the end of the season but there's no way he should be starting regularly for us, squad player at best for me.
 
Could be a coach or 2 currently employed so sorting that out so things like WP's couldn't be applied for at the same time as Lage.

Obviously want the whole team in and signed, do the interviews, vids etc before making it official.
Pretty much guaranteed Lage is signed up and already started his work.

Have seen enough of him to come to a conclusion that he isn’t all that - conversely, Vitinha and RAN clearly are.
 
My thought is that they're planning a blockbuster announcement, in the form of Lage plus signings. Such a plan might also distract if Neves moves to north London around the same time.
