O'Neil aka GONe

GON is awful, but our squad is nothing to write home about either.

Full of unproven kids, flops with awful attitudes and general mediocrities. Cunha and probably J Gomes the only definite top 10 players we have imo, but OK I'll take your assertion if we're talking on paper ability.

But when you factor in application, attitude, coaching...no fucking way.

We'll finish bottom.
Oh I'm very much talking paper. At the start of the season you wouldn't say we had one of the worst 3 teams in the league. We've not strengthened for a while and that's on Fosun but Gaz can't use it as an excuse.

His comment on Daz Hale is astonishing.

Is the answer in the changing room?

"It doesn't look like it"

At least the mask is slipping now, stop painting this picture that he's likable, he's a prick.

Maybe Schwarzer was right when he basically said GON was a whinging, negative cunt as a player that people generally avoided.

In my experience, people like that love to point the finger elsewhere but there's little reflection on themselves and their own responsibilities

To give O'Neil some slack, he knows that he'd have lost his job at any sensibly ran club. All he can do is see out time until he goes and give himself as many excuses as possible ahead of his next appointment.

His position is untenable. I was prepared to give him the Southampton game and hoped a win (which we somehow achieved) would garner some confidence, the following win over Fulham came out of the blue and I hoped that would give further confidence and belief but the Bournemouth game was an absolute shambles from minute one, 3 penalties? Started by Toti. Symptomatic of what we've got, brainless players and low standard players.
The only reason I didn't think he should go necessarily was there didn't seem to be any obvious replacement that might do any better.
O'Neil should have gone after the Everton game. I want to see what whoever replaces him can do with the same set of dross.
No waiting until January then spending a load on players like they did with Lopetegui.
Absolute disgrace how the club has been run since the covid season.

It's a farcical situation. He doesn't want to be here but won't walk away from the ££ and they can't replace him because they're fucking idiots. Look forward to more weeks of him saying and doing whatever he wants until they do the right thing.

I don't really blame him for not walking away from a financial point of view, there has to be some negotiation to pay him off surely? I still think he was dealt a bad hand and we've had some bad luck with critical decisions and injuries.
The owners bear most of the responsibility.

So what do we think is the most realistic scenario here?

Every game seems like 'the last straw' and never is...do we really think he's going to see the season out??

Fuck me, I reckon if you'd carried on for another couple of paragraphs you'd be saying we should extend his contract again

I have a feeling he will see the season out, he should have gone in May after the last match when we were still a relatively attractive option for a decent Coach.
No decent Coach would touch this shit show with a barge pole now.

I've no idea anymore. Nothing would surprise me. They've given up.

Why are we allowing Gary to continue to post on here

Once we lose to Leicester we've got the tough run of fixtures again, can't be sacking the guy, we're plucky Wolves, we knew we were going to lose those anyway.

Maybe when Bristol City knock us out the cup, or after Bournemouth away (22nd Feb) would be my guess.

What bad hand has he been dealt? All teams outside the sky 6 need to sell players, get over it.

The owners/Jeff Shi deserve a huge amount of criticism, but you can't absolve O'Neil in this and put it down to bad luck. The run since February isn't luck, it's a pattern and the norm. This isn't a squad that should sit 19th after 16 games. But here we are, and he's out of excuses. The 'tough opening games' - well forget about that now, we (like everyone else) have now pretty much played everyone once, so forget that nonsense.

He bleated last week about taking over a team who'd only got 39 points, and look at what he did. Well what have you done since your 'miracle work' last season when every pundit (complete fabrication) said we were going down.

He's a really poor coach, he's been shown up, and now he whinges and blames anything else for his shortcomings.

Have tried to get a new member to replace him but they refuse to post under the restrictions Jeff Vis has put in place.
Also, we believe Wolftone has huge potential as a poster on a forum and think if we let him go, he will simply go to a new place and that potential will be realised and we will look like twats.
