Appointment of Unai Emery by #avfc another serious statement of intent from NSWE and underlines the determination to eventually return to European competition. Emery was Villa's No. 1 target due to having 3 Europa League titles and a Champions League semi-final on his cv

Mind the gap

Tbf, Villa thought Gerrard and Coutinho would make them 'next level' too, so it's perfectly possible Emery is underwhelming/shit

I know what you mean, on balance though I reckon Emery has far more chance of being successful than Davis and whoever we eventually appoint.

I don't think it's a given either, he went very strange under pressure at Arsenal Coutinho was because of Gerrard though.

They've identified their target and done the deal in 5 days.

He could be Alex McLeish the point is the speed, logic and efficiency with which they resolved the situation.

Sounds like we were trying to do a Mike Ashley.

Well... That is the main problem. Mendes does become Director of Football on his network clubs. Depending on the level of influence, which tends to grow bigger and bigger as more and more transfers are made and more and more comissions are paid, Mendes starts to call all the shots.

From transfers to managers and yes, i dare to say it, even starting elevens.
But that isn't Mendes' problem. He doesn't own part of the club. It's on the club executives - if we have an agent and a failed assistant manager of Chesterfield dictating our on-field strategy, whose fault is that?

Even if he doesn't work out (personally think it's a great hire) - it's just somehow made our decisions look as poor as they are, that's Villa who you can add to Sevilla and Brighton in terms of having a soloution ready for a manager change.
It's the minimum you'd expect from any club. Shi is taking the fucking piss.

It’s a pretty solid appointment and one they clearly had in mind before sacking Gerrard.
It’s just simple joined up thinking, shows how reactive we have been.
Jeff is making decisions that any fan with any reasonable knowledge knows is just not going to end well.

I can’t remember the last time I was this angry about Wolves. We’re a Premier League club being run in an embarrassingly amateur way. Fuck Fosun and fuck Shi. Either run the club properly or fuck off.

If we go down it will be one of the most stupid, self inflicted and completely avoidable relegations ever.

I don't think new owners is the issue, would be worried about who that may even be, what I want is for our current owners to reasses their current method, that many of us have been worried about since the Raul injury/Nuno season when we started to worry about depth.

Oh dear.

Not a good ebening for Jeff's continually plummeting reputation.
