Manchester City (a) 24/01 -Build up and match thread

The fact that City with all the players they already have can go out and buy Semenyo and Guehi in January is a sign of how broken PL football is. I detest what football has become.

Very predictable boring sport at times with a select few having all the fun.

Good man ref! Although the reasoning seems nonsense. It's s never a penalty because it has no effect on the direction of play and doesn't have any effect on Marmoush keeping the ball which he does.
It's also from less than one yard away. Mind you Moutinho, Doherty and many others would agree when ridiculous decisions were given against them.

Part of me wonders if we could have got semenyo when he was at Bristol city
Well pretty much any PL side could have, same with Bowen at Hull, Eze at QPR and whoever else you want to throw in. Our failure isn't in not recruiting him specifically it's about never seriously considering that league for anyone.

Krejci's body position is poor, means he's caught off balance and therefore a simple switch to the left opens up the opportunity. He ends up with a free shot on goal without really having to do anything. Good finish though
Agree, he should never be able go inside on his first touch like that

This is the thing we’ve neglected looking at players from the championship it’s just been years of terrible scouting.

Yeah it’s terrible but he’s scared of the ball in behind and then leaves him too much space. But saying “without doing too much” is doing him a disservice. He takes a touch running on to it and basically puts it on a plate for himself to then finish well with his weak foot.

Most the time people would just take that into feet, or overhit the touch and be on the stretch and even if they get that bit right mess up the finish.

Splitting hairs, but I doubt it's the scouting in the narrowest sense

To note we’ve not had a single touch in their box yet.

The Mane opportinity was a good opportunity wasted. We had a 2 v 1 on the full back and if he gave it Bueno he is probably able to cut it back to him unmarked with a free shot at goal. Sadly decided to shoot onto row z from a terrible angle.

Bueno’s supporting “run” was awful as well. Held his run too deep

We’ve had about 20% possession so when we do have it, we need to stop being so sloppy.

A touch in their box after just 56 minutes. The comeback is on…
