Madeleine McCann

it has never been proved one way or the other whether she is alive. But cos a mate of a mate of a mate heard in the pub that the poor girl is dead does not mean its true. I hope for the familys sake that she is alive and well, but i fear the worst.

I've always found it quite strange that this got so much press coverage, considering how many children go missing a year.

It's not "a mate of mine in the pub".

If I didn't have what I said - "someone who is very close to the senior investigator of the case" - I wouldn't say it.

Look at all the financial football stuff I've posted over the last 18 months and shock horror, most of it has come true despite people saying "nah, that will never happen". I only post what I know from good sources. If making bollocks up was my interest then I'd stick to vitaltransfernews (which you believed, lock stock and barrel) forever.

At the absolute very least, the McCann's are guilty negligence that lead to the abduction and death* of their daughter. Either that or they were involved. Either way, they are, in my opinion, entirely responsible for her death. There's very little between malice and negligence IMO.

*and let's hope she is dead, because the alternative is surely worse. People don't tend to steal kids and bring them up nicely.

See reply #20 is the only suspected reason why it got so much coverage, if it were a poor child of a run down council estate....

I found it annoying, not strange. I don't want to get all political, but the fact that she was a: a gorgeous little girl, and b: daughter to middle class white professionals surely played a part in the immediate exposure?

Absolutely played a part. But I always felt there was something untold keeping the story in the headlines.

that the Columbus disaster was exactly that
If you're referring to the Space Shuttle in 1986 then I think you mean Columbia. Unless you mean the discovery of America, which would still be understandable....

I believe that 9/11 happened as reported, that JFK was shot by a lone gunman, that the Columbus disaster was exactly that, that Elvis is dead

Well there goes any credibility you had with me.

I love a good conspiracy theory, even if they're all a load of old codswallop.

There was a guy on Richard Bacon on 5Live on Tuesday afternoon (can't recall his name), but he reckoned that the London 7/7 bombings were a cover up for a major electrical fault on the underground which killed those poor people, and the iconic blown up bus was staged and filled with actors. He also believed that the aeroplanes which flew into the Twin Towers were actually missiles which had holograms of aeroplanes put onto them. Amazing stuff.

Anyone else have any outrageous conspiracy theories? Would be a cracking thread I reckon.

I reckon this isn't really a forum and merely a figment of my imagination.

I couldn't put it better myself. If I disappeared off to the pub leaving my kids alone in the house, then the book would be thrown at me for negligence. Somehow the McCanns escape this, and it's OK for them to have done this.

Absolutely Social Services and i'd imagine other agencies would be all over you like a bad rash if you had of left your kids and piddled off to the pub for an hour or so, or anywhere else for that matter.

I'm not disagreeing with any of the theories on here, but what the hell would be their motive to top their own daughter.
I seem to remember having read they occassionaly gave her drugs to make her sleep. so is the suggestion they overdid it?, and then conjured up the kidnappingas a cover?. I just fail to believe a parent could actually do that.

I also remember reading the same, "if" they overdid it (As you put it) by drugging the little girl so she would sleep and if something went wrong, it would be easy for them to fabricate a story to divert any attention towards themselves, afterall they are "hard working middle class types with decent jobs." They could not possibly do such a thing like that considering their background.
Neglect just does not happen on council estates associated with poor parenting, unemployment and the likes, it crosses the spectrum from poor to rich alike and recent studies have proven those more fortunate people are more likely to be offenders of neglect towards their children.

Yes they would but they wouldnt do anything about it, till it was too late :(

The "Paul McCartney died in a car crash and was replaced by a lookalike who has lived his life for the last 45 years" is a personal favourite.
