Lockdown and wildlife

The Redwing identification had a red dot attached. A quick google says it indicates ‘the bird is rare for that location and time of year’.

I’m impressed by your knowledge Keef, I wouldn’t know if it was an unusual find or an inaccurate identification or not.

Edit: Apparently the Red = Rare, the orange semi-circle (alongside the nuthatch) = uncommon.

50 years of birdwatching gives you a bit of knowledge, I’m near the 400 club ( thats 400 species of birds in the uk) but don’t do the racing about for the rare stuff ( twitching) I’m much happier walking around a local patch where something “rare” is far better.
Everyone pointing and laughing now I’ve said I’m a birder.

Still am, and the local wildlife trusts, I’ve let my RSPB membership lapse, got sick of them constantly asking for money, think a lot of other people quit as well, RSPB seems to be having financial issues

Doesn’t ring any bells tbh.
I’ve been and listened to redwing song, don’t hear them sing in the uk,
Similar to
Blackbird
Less similar but confusable
Garden warbler
Blackcap
I’d guess that’s what the app picked up.

Has anyone else noticed loads more insects, bees, butterflies etc this summer?

We haven't mowed out lawn and it's like a party out here at the moment, not sure if its just us or something bigger?

Not sp much bees as we get loads of those in the garden with the lavender. Certainly seems a lot of butterflies recently.
 
I think the hotter weather has them all coming out in numbers earlier this year.
 
Noticeably fewer round here this year. Google tells me that, on average, Cambridgeshire is about 1°C hotter in the summer than the West Midlands, and that June this year is 1.5 degrees hotter than last year. The effects of global warming on nature are real, folks.
 
With a statement like that, you have to put a still from Zulu up ( zulus, thousands of them) it’s the lawIMG_3043.jpeg
