Magpie nests are a pain in the arse!" The bastards will raid the nests of all your songbirds. Every time they are around your garden start clapping to discourage them. Last year next door allowed one in the cherry tree and the fledgling blackbird was hoiked from its nest and killed in front of my wifes eyes despite the frantic parents trying to save it.not lockdown anymore, but I have been observing a pair of magpies building their nest in a tree at the bottom of the neighbours garden. there's a constant to and fro with the magpies having something twig like in their beaks. Watching them can sometimes get quite zen like.
Also, have been trying to walk regularly again (as it fizzled out in december/january) and twice this week I have been walking through the local park at dusk, and have seen bats circling above me.
Loads near me too - one just sat in the front garden this morning. Weird I'd never really noticed them until last month.Got absolutely tons of foxes living in our street now. Regularly find them just chilling in the back garden in the middle of the day.

What's the idea of soaking the mealworm? We just stick them out dry.I've been soaking a dish of dried mealworms every morning and putting them out to see what birds are coming to the garden. To my delight it seems I have lots of Robins
Gives the birds a drop of moisture and is supposed to be easier for them to digest.. Don't know, but they seem to gobble them up quicker when soaked. What's the idea of soaking the mealworm? We just stick them out dry.
We used to get loads of different birds but the last few years our feeders just have pigeons, starlings and magpies, occasionally sparrows, Robins, blackbirds and the odd bluetit.
We have had Sparrowhawk take a few in the garden lately so that might have something to do with it.
My favorite lil creatures, foxes. If they were domesticated I'd have a squad of 'em.Got absolutely tons of foxes living in our street now. Regularly find them just chilling in the back garden in the middle of the day.

I watched it for ages. Another one came into the garden not long after and they started fighting, I've got a video of it but can't upload it here and can't be arsed to upload it anywhere else and link it.First chiff chaffs singing in the woods around our village this week, and the ospreys are back on Rutland Water. Never see any foxes but they are out there as my chickens don’t last long if they’re left out (should add all fine for now as they’re housed as per regs). That photo is quality Boozad!
Is that different to a sussuration?Brilliant pictures of a murmuration on the BBC website today. Looks like a blue whale made up of starlings is floating across the northern skies.
