Ref having a bit of a mare in the Sunderland @ Burnley game. Gave a penalty for a tackle clearly outside of the box. Then allowed James Trafford to piss about for over two minutes having taken his gloves off without booking him. The penalty is then saved.
Has now given another penalty to Sunderland for minimal to no contact. Trafford then goes down pretending to be injured and does get a yellow card this time, which should have seen him sent off. He then saves the second penalty too.
Been having a conversation with a friend related to finding Raya poor last weekend, is it just me or is the quality of goalkeepers in the league pretty low this season? Lots of teams whose first-choice isn't any good at all or don't really have a first-choice currently. Apart from Allison I'd struggle to name any particularly good goalkeepers at the moment, Ederson doesn't even play. Teams like Brighton and Brentford who are associated with good business have struggled to find a competent number one. We have multiple outright bad options and could say the same for Leicester and Ipswich.
Selz is doing decent but this could just be him on a good run, he wasn't all that last season or for Belgium. Martinez and Pickford are some of the few I'd consider good in addition to Raya but they aren't exactly elite level.
