Arsenal fell away early last season, they haven't this season. They've pushed City until the final day and they've had to win every game. Its quite obviously a race, you just don't like the outcome of the race

City’s dynasty could easily collapse when Pep leaves. Probably not to the degree of Chelsea or United, but City aren’t winning the league on money alone.

18-19 and 21-22 were probably not title races either, as City ended up winning those by a point. Was always going to happen so no title race

I don’t give a rats arse whether ut is a race or a cakewalk.

The simple fact is the level of cheating is so profound that appreciating a City win is the same as liking a Lance Armstrong cycling victory.

Someone winning the league by 1 or 2 points doesn’t constitute ‘not a title race’ no matter how many times you say it. They’re an incredible team but if Arsenal hadn’t slipped up in one game this season (or Trossard plays the obvious pass at the Etihad) they’ve won the league.

The delusion is strong. City won the league weeks ago when Arsenal and Liverpool lost on the same day, everything since has been about getting to the inevitable conclusion. It's dull and bad for English football.

And all cheered on by a guffawing loon who doesn’t at all receive beyond his Sky salary under the table payments to act as propaganda minister for FC Sportswash. While sky and pundits known for a good bit of rabble rousing on other matters (I’m looking at you Neville) are utterly silent on the matter.

92-93 - 10 points
93-94 - 8 points
95-96 - 4 points
96-97 - 7 points
98-99 - 1 point
99-00 - 18 points
00-01 - 10 points

Oh for those unpredictable days of Man Utd winning 7 of the first 9 Premier League titles by razor-thin margins.

City have (will have) had to have won 9 on the spin at the end of the season to win the title. Every week since the Villa game, Arsenal have kept the pressure on them to keep winning. Just because both teams weren't dropping points to muck, doesn't make it not a race. Arsenal have pushed City all the way, you can see that from the way the City players celebrate the penalty tonight. Saying different is disingenuous.

Saying there's been no title race this season is utter nonsense

In two of City's title wins they've gone to the final day only needing to beat crap at home and they were 2-1 down to QPR with a minute to go and 2-0 down to Gerrard's Villa with 15 minutes to go.

Now while they should beat West Ham there's no guarantee they will and anyone saying they were sat on their hands during those two games proclaiming "City will win anyway, it's all over" is lying.

So when Son had a great chance with minute go Arsenal fans just sat not caring because the title was decided weeks ago?

Thought Spurs gave it a fair go and can’t see how Arsenal could feel let down by that. Thought the fans were pretty vocal tbf and the intrinsic desire to see their team win was much stronger than any compensatory knowledge they’d hurt Arsenal in defeat. The roar when Son went through and groan as he missed was evidence enough as I saw it.

Left just after the pen sealed it so didn’t see any Spurs ‘celebrations’ at the end, but with a worse current form than ours of 5 defeats in their last 6 and long since blowing their chance of finishing top four, effectively torpedoing Arsenal’s first Premier League title in 20 years was about all they had left to celebrate.

I wake up this morning to more tortured what ifs and if onlys, just as I did this time last year. The same team wins it every year and will next too, it's an inevitably, but you'll all get to again pretend that it isn't with new examples you can kid yourselves with

The only one with their head in the sand appears to be you. Despite it going to the final games and the possibility that Arsenal could be in pole position but for Spurs missing a golden opportunity you think the title was decided weeks ago.

Keep telling yourself that, I'm sure it'll improve your enjoyment watching City's 2024/5 Championship win.

This is a daft stance. I can tell you unequivocally that up until 3 weeks ago all 3 managers had no clue who was going to win. 3 players from those 3 clubs had no idea either.

They all thought it was a tight race. I can imagine that hasn't changed for the top 2 even this morning.

No player competes without wanting to win every game.

What confuses me as that you thought it was a foregone conclusion even though the players and managers did not.

Foregone conclusion or not, City winning the title yet again is just incredibly dull.

To be honest, if Wolves weren't in the Premier League then I would probably have no interest in it whatsoever.
I agree, but I also agree with Alan that once Pep leaves it’ll open up again a bit (at least for a couple of years ago).

It is a problem, though I do think this year's title race has been quite good and that’s a credit to Arsenal who are getting better every year under Arteta.

So when City pinch him, it’ll be very annoying…
