Live Match Discussion: 2020/21

Probably some justice that De Gea is the one that misses as he never ever looked like saving a penalty. Looked like the kid at school who didn’t want any involvement in pe so was put in goal.

Villareal keeper rewarded for being more brave with his penalty. De Gea's shot was tame.

No idea how Shaws Pen made it in. Several others either keeper could have saved. Lot of great pens though tbf.

More crap management from Solksjaer to not making changes until we’ll i to extra time.
Plus you know De Gea is shit on penalties sub him with a minute to go give yourselves the best chance.

In hindsight yes. Risk if you change him and lose though.

Would we be happy with Emery here?

That Villarreal team is littered with PL cast offs yet United havent managed to really lay a glove on them with a host of attacking talent.

Definitely some Shilton style keeping from De Gea on some of the penalties, then went ridiculously early on others.

Really isn’t tho when you compare both their records on penalties and the Fact that Henderson is the PL regular not like you’re putting a rooky in there to do the job.

Taking your runners up medal off a second after it has been put on you is a dick move.
Congrats Villareal, biggest win in their history.
“If you’re not first, you’re last”.

People do stupid things when they are annoyed/upset/disappointed/angry etc.

I think putting a runners up medal on someone is stupid though in the heat of the moment. Give it then in a box. You’re already pissed off and then your effectively given a sign saying “well done on fucking up”.

De Gea had failed to save 24 straight penalties prior to that shootout, now 35.
Solskjear somewhere should have been aware that De Gea was not going to be his best option on penalties.

Runners up medals should just be left on the dressing room table for the losing side.
All you want to do if you’ve lost is get out of there and not hang around waiting whilst the opposition are celebrating.

So Fred wasn't fit (which is why he didn't play) but he uses him as a sub so he can take what, the 8th penalty or whatever it was? (Fair enough, he nailed it)

I've got a better idea Ole, use your subs to win the game itself.

Or perhaps take off the keeper that hasn't saved a penalty since 2016 (25 penalties ago).

It's 36 penalties now :ROFLMAO:, even Stowell had a better record than that. (i think)

Stowell saved two in the first two games of 92/93. Can't think of too many others! One against Charlton in the cup rings a bell.

When we beat Blues in the cup they didn't score after Brian Law got sent off for handling the ball on the line, but I can't remember if they outright missed or he saved it.
