Newcastle six points clear and with a game in hand too if they hang on here. Fulham have had 3 separate opportunities to get out the bottom three and taken none of them (we were certainly there for the taking on Friday too). Their next two games are Arsenal and Chelsea, before a game against Burnley. They'll need seven points from those to have any chance I'd say.

Yep I think they need to target Arsenal as a must win game. Not beyond the realms of possibility as Arsenal can be atrocious at times. They probably need to be on 33 points going into the final game to have any chance personally I don’t think they be above 30.

Just what I commented about a bit earlier. The current standard of refereeing in the EPL is consistently incompetent; at times it borders on cheating but I know that wouldn’t be the case. They’re just hopeless.

Despite their dire performance so far, how was that not a penalty for Newcastle ?

The standard of refereeing in English football (including VAR) is a joke that is beyond ridiculous. I can recall a time when the officials in the UK game were the best in the world. Now they’re generally a disgrace to the integrity of the game.

It's funny really, i think the standard of the assistant referees has increased no end over the the last few years, it was very rare that a lino got something wrong in the last couple of seasons before VAR. But now their influence has been taken away by VAR.

However, referee quality has fallen through the floor, not helped by VAR effecting them psychologically.

Absolutely. I saw this from Fridays disallowed goal, the assistants positioning is perfect and could/would have flagged the goal offside after the fact if there was an issue as they did for the Salah goal against us.
