Live Match Discussion 2018/19

Well yeah he did stop them scoring. He handled it on the line.

I think VAR would have to pull it back, send him off and award the penalty.

Goal isn't an incorrect decision though as ref played the advantage and Newcastle scored. Whether he's still then directed to send TAA off is the question. If they give the penalty and the keeper saves it and Liverpool then win 1-0 the ref is slaughtered for not allowing the goal.

I think the refs probably done the right thing there. If Newcastle had stopped it would have forced the ref to give the decision, but that would have been on Newcastle then rather than the ref.

A very interesting situation

The ref isn't allowed to play advantage with red card decisions though. He can't pull it back and give the pen and sending off if Atsu misses the follow up.

OK. Sky confirming the rule. If he'd have denied a goal, ultimately, it would have been a red. But because he didn't then it should have been a yellow.

Yes, was just searching trying to find the answer. He could only be sent off if it's violent conduct but he should still have been booked.

I would like Rondon here next season, I don't think Newcastle are doing much to make it permanent

I hope Liverpool win tonight - I want maximum emotions next weekend and for us to spoil their party.

They should have been well clear before the equaliser.

Definitely not looking good for Salah. Massive blow for Liverpool.

Just me or was that a weirdly calm/quiet celebration for that goal given how important it is?

Needless free-kick conceded by Ritchie costs them. Carragher doesn't sound at all pleased by it either.

Looked like a complete dive/drop to the floor from Fabinho for the free kick too. Would be pretty funny if City mess up and we ruin it for Liverpool

Free kick?.. Barely touched him!

Hands were all over him, footballer's are inherently stupid. Fabinho is looking for only one thing (as Ritchie would have been at the opposite end) and Ritchie obliged perfectly.
