Massive VAR delay here in Gelsenkirchen... Awards penalty.

It's a penalty but an inordinate amount of time dragging here. How he's booked Otamendi when he's trying to get his arm out of the way I'll never know.

Anyways 1-1.

Ahh! Goal music how I've missed thee.

Another penalty!

Completely unnecessary by Fernandinho.

Yep far too long. Seems that the delay was a result of the ref wanting to view the incident, but the monitor pitchside not working.

Somehow I don't think Schalke supporters would agree.
Football is supposed to fast fluid and exciting, can't imagine anything worse than being in the ground waiting for VAR to get on with it, but I'm going to be forced to do it to keep the TV viewers happy.

So if that was Wolves you'd rather the game go on and us not equalize? In the Champions League?

You can't pick out individual instances like that. Football will poorer for the supporter so the TV viewers is more involved.

Why can't I? Either VAR is there and Schalke equalize or it's not and they don't. One technical issue making it last longer than it's supposed to doesn't invalidate the value of making the correct call.

Again it's alright for the TV viewers, but football isn't about that - it's about fast excitement Off sides etc fair enough, subjective decisions not - personally i didn't think that was even a penalty.

Sure you will be happy with your TV, spare a thought for the fans twiddling their thumbs in the stadium.

Spare a thought for the Schalke fans who would have been robbed of an equalizing goal without VAR, would be my response.

Otamendi sent off. Stupid, even if his first booking was preposterous.

It's not football, it's badly implemented and you will diminish the atmosphere and experience for the supporters who pay an awful lot of money to go to the games.

So just ignore missed calls because correcting them is "not football"?

I still think VAR is from satan.

I would much rather get a natural bad decision then spend a decade ironing out a marginal one and remove all of the passion of the moment that the sport is about.

Just me probably.

It's going to take a while to streamline. Just have to put up with the delays until then. Personally I don't care as long as we get the correct decision.

Trouble is, with handball the rules are so vague and interpreted differently by everyone. All 3 pundits in the BT studio said it wasn't a penalty. In my opinion it was, but never a yellow card in a million years.
