Live Match Discussion 2017/18

Hard to make a case for Derby deserving anything tonight. They had to show more ambition before it went 2-0 and even though they threw men forward, they didn't really create much.

Fulham deserved that of course. I'll definitely be supporting them in the final. It's also my nearest ground until Wimbledon's is rebuilt so will come in handy for seeing the Wolves next season.

Fulham were the much better side tonight and deserve it for that showing and also their performance over the season. On tonight's showing I wouldn't fancy Derby's chances against Villa in the final but Fulham are a different prospect

I think at Wembey Fulham will be too good for either side who goes through. They will wear them out.

Over two legs definitely. A one off game? Anything could happen. Villa are the sort of team who could get away with soaking up Fulham pressure then nicking a goal from someone shite like Jedinak has already done in the first leg.

Maybe, I just think Fulham on the day are far more likely to benefit from the size of the pitch, which always seems so much bigger on the day, with Villa/Boro doing all the running and getting knackered

Yeah, they could do a proper QPR vs Derby job. Grub out a win after playing terribly (in fact it's how they get most of their points).

Isn't the reality that Wembley isn't a bigger pitch than average, just appears so due to the perspective on TV? Sure I've read that before.
Fulham are a better side than Villa, even more so based on the second half of the season, but Villa have bought the experience they have for occasions like that and Grealish's seminal game was at Wembley. I hope it's 100 degrees and they wilt.

Going to the cinema rather than watching the game tonight but having seen that Boro have only made the 1 enforced change i can't see them winning. Bamford had to start and while Shotton gives them height Fabio looked a much better option at full back than he ever has. Hope i'm wrong though.

Don't you worry, Rudy Gestede is on the bench. Saviour

Fabio can't throw it long though can he? Pulis will get them up next year as he'll buy the right components to play Pulisball, at the moment he's trying to do it without the players to do so. It's really to his detriment that unlike when he was at Palace he's not tried to use what he has rather than mould what he has to his tried and tested model. A goal down to a Villa side on Saturday who put everyone behind the ball they weren't any more sophisticated than they were against us with 9 men - launch it or hope Troare does something.

Villa showed how to beat Pulisball. Give them possession. Pulisball cannot cope with that at all.

That's not a deliberate tailored strategy :icon_lol:

Villa play like that all the time, they're abhorrent.

I know!! They lucked out that their shit play actually denuded Boro. I am not making Steve Bruce out to be Rinus Michels, I promise!

I'd be getting Traore on the left, running at Bree. Downing has had a couple of openings but obviously not got the legs to test him.

Fucking hell, some real 'quality' on display here :icon_lol:

Boro are once again utterly terrible. How did Adama cause us so much trouble where we spent half the game hacking him down ?
