LIVE! Match discussion 2014/15

0-1 to Croatia. Luke Shaw couldn't be bothered to mark his man from the set piece.

Croatia's left winger looks like a talent. Incredible touch to bring the attacking midfielder into play for a good chance.

Ah! I wanted to go to this, but work said no.
Even a directors box couldn't tempt em...

Harry Kane equalises with a neat low header. With Redmond he has been the best England player.

I like Kane. There's something promising in his locker.

Meandering toward a draw. Some blot on the gene pool trying to start a Mexican wave.

Over 23,000 here. Thousands must have been late getting in because it didn't look more than 15k at kick off

Well, now back home so I may as well report on what was a fairly pleasantly diverting evening.

Thousands of fans from other clubs were there as people had no idea where to go in the ground. Possibly a little irritating, but also a good sign that other fans had come to check out Molineux for the under 21s. Also, interesting to note a fair few Albion fans had come along to cheer on Berahino. Must have been odd for them to go into traditional home areas of Molineux in their Albion shirts and not get any grief!

Getting into the ground on time clearly caused massive issues for this idiotic kick-off time. I was in by 5.15 so not an issue for me, but I understand that the queues at the ticket office were still pretty large fifteen minutes after kick-off. People were still arriving around half time that I could see. All in all, rather chaotic, but not really that much the club could do about it. UEFA should be the ones getting opprobrium. When everyone was in, the crowd was very good. Steve Bull and South Bank were packed. North Bank lower (including quadrant) were very well populated, and the two thirds of the north bank upper that were open were packed out. Billy Wright lower had good numbers. There were maybe a couple of hundred in the Billy Wright upper.

The game itself really wasn't the best, but it was quite entertaining. I liked the look of Redmond, and also Hughes while he was on (shame he picked up an injury). Harry Kane led the line well. Shaw had one tremendous run when he hit the post in the first half and got up and down well (still think he needs to shed a few pounds though). He was at fault for the goal though - totally lost his man. Interesting cameos from Thom Ince (who really REALLY needs to learn when to release the ball and play a team mate in) and Eric Dier (who looks a decent prospect already). Berahino was not really in the game, and yet it was his cross (the only good one in the game up to that point) from which Kane scored, and he then made a good run to earn the penalty, which he despatched with considerable applomb.

Atmosphere was obviously fairly jovial with so many children in the crowd, and everyone left happy. I am bloody glad I don't have a season ticket in the Steve Bull upper. The view is fine, but it takes an age to get out of the stand after the game.

All in all, a good night, and glad I went. Micro had a bostin night as well.

Pissed off that I missed it. Damn you fucked up lungs!!

Watching a classic "derby" game - Cambridge currently battering Oxford 4-1.

I guess it won't be long until Appleton is shown the door at Oxford, despite only being there 5 minutes. They look fooking awful, even for League 2 standard.

Really odd how Appleton got a reputation from anywhere, Portsmouth had obvious problems but his record was out and out poor (even in comparison to Cotterill) and then since then it's been chaos.

Diego Tardelli puts Brazil 1-0 up against Argentina, decent finish but not great goalkeeping by Romero.

.

I guess he still has some protection from his spell at Portsmouth & Blackburn, where he can easily say "mad owners, impossible job", could also throw in Blackpool as a situation that was hard to work in, hence I left (to go to a mad owner).

I know Albion thought of him very highly as a coach but it looks like that's as far as it goes. I'm sure I remember him being linked with a very iffy agent at one point which isn't going to help in the long run. Oxford's form this year is reminiscent of Wolves in 2012, disastrous, they were top of the league last December, didn't even make the playoffs and now they're down towards the bottom.

Neymar should have just made it 2-0, brilliant run and then messed up the finish. Refreshing to see a Brazil team that doesn't have Fred up front.
