Keir Starmer at it again..

Oh, and the idea that Andy Burnham would deliver progressive policies depends entirely on who he spoke to last.

Then who do you feel in Labour should take over?
This is such a disingenuous line. I don't need to name every single right wing back in the world who is better than Jackson Tchatchoua if I say he is shit and not fit for purpose, do I?

Or does it depend on where an individual sets their own political barometer? Labour IMO are right of centre.
That is what I was rather clumsily trying to say I guess with it being a matter of perspective. From where I came from they still seem a centre party at worst, but I can acknowledge that would seem right for those who come from different perspectives.

Big barbie for this afternoon for Straya day, but I have to pop off and help someone clean a house to get their bond (tenant deposit in UK terms) back first.

Not really, it’s very likely that Labour are facing a wipe out in local elections soon. That will lead to a challenge.

This trying to prevent elections occurring leaves a very bitter taste too.

So in order to win, Labour need to adopt an electoral position that has failed every time?

In modern history Labour has gone very left on three occasions. 1983, 2015 and 2017.

Three times, three defeats, two of them by a landslide.

Fourth time lucky, though, right?
I'd rather they continue doing what they're doing tbh.

This is quite the self own.

Labour have lost 5 elections since 1983 where they weren't "very left" too.

Also their vote count in 2017 was the 2nd highest since the 60s - that's out of 16 elections

And then will blame "the left" when Reform get in.

Who they haven't bothered to "oppose" since they came on the scene.
All they've done is seek to appease Reform, try and attract their votes. Worked a charm so far. You can oppose Reform and not be the Socialist Workers Party at the same time.

Starmer has acquired to much baggage with the incessant u-turns which combined with the fact his appalling communication skills and absence of charisma mean he has next to nothing going for him. He can hang on like Biden and do irreparable damage to Labour or fall on his sword after the May elections. It’s blindingly obvious he won’t lead Labour into the next election and there don’t seem to be many alternatives who will do any better so blocking Burnham, who on the face of it offers as much as any of the other potential replacements, is doing nobody any favours apart from Reform.

Not really. If the argument is 'We should move to the left in order to win' then that has literally never worked. Not once.
