Keir Starmer at it again..

But then the message is tax payers are subsidising parents having some nice free time to have a read in the morning. Not only is that just not true, it's rage bait

The idea is needed, to get people to work, increase productivity, potentially reduce benefits requirements, help the economy. Any other framing is just stupid.

Exactly this, the tweet itself is quoting people saying they want to go for coffee, or can't remember if they've fed their kids or not. Why should tax payers subside this?

"Economics are the method; the object is to change the soul." - Margaret Thatcher

She fucking nailed that.

perhaps work isn't the only thing that matters in peoples lives?
That's fine, but why should others have to subsidise that?

I think it's a great idea to help working families back into work, and a great safe guard for vulnerable kids. But in terms of opportunity cost (and the message the advert gives) I'd rather taxes went to more needy causes than going out for a coffee. Especially when Rachel is talking about having to raise taxes.
