Just how good were/was/is/are (Wolves Edition)

Was surprised to see Wolves is the club Ricketts played the most games for. I remember for a time he was played cm and he was very ineffective.

I have seen him play reasonably well for two tiny little spells (yes really).

When Hoddle played the (sort of) diamond formation at the back end of 04/05 he played behind the front two with Seol (Miller and one of Leon or Cort up top) and while you wouldn't say he was magical, he did look to have a bit of ability. I saw him score and everything. But then we totally binned that for no real reason.

Then early on in 06/07 we played him off the left in a 4-4-2, not as a winger but drifting in from there. We had no creativity at all anywhere else so he kind of looked ok. Quickly ended though. He got usurped by Dan Jones who has no skill whatsoever (and coincidentally, is also a prick, though in a different way to Rohan) and yet had roughly the same impact.

Beyond that he was shit and a coward.

If the John Ireland wasn't so far from the pitch I would have thrown my free pie at him for his performance in that Albion Cup game

PS - everyone is still RUBBISH at not just throwing in other names when we're talking about someone else, but I'll take this over bizarre politicking which we had when I left you alone for a day or two. Don't do that again in this thread please...

We really missed you mate, at one stage I was shouting your name while chewing my own arm off in irritation

Life gets in the way sometimes, as much as I'd like to regale people with tales of how Mark Davies at peak acne period was in the Spread Eagle every single night with his scrote mates (you could ask why I was there to see it, but I was old enough to make my own mind up and I don't play professional football).

But I'm back now.

We was also a big fan of WS1 in Walsall on a Thursday night when it was £1 a drink. Quite why he went there as a professional footballer on a decent wage when half us dirty oik students only went there purely on price, even getting there before 10pm to avoid paying a door fee. Low hanging fruit and all that I guess.

Though he wasn't the only regular from that side of the tracks, namesake Curtis used to be seen in there quite often during his Albion days but can't say I ever saw him trying to drink himself to death like his Wolves counterpart.

Paul shrugs his shoulders and gives up his extensive search for a tenuous link between us and Paul Devlin in Deutschs honour why he was away. Time wasted ! :)

If football lockdown were lasting longer then I'd start an "opposition players you hated most" series. And that rat faced fuck* would be in there. But it isn't lasting much longer...

This will just become one of those occasional threads that pop up soon given that we'll have three games a week to talk about so don't wreck it while it's here by just blurting out names is all :D Plus it's not really that amusing to name a shit player so everyone goes "yeah, he was shit". Note the lack of Lipstick Darren. There is no debate. He was fat and he was rubbish. The End.

*Edit - Devlin that is.

Berra is a possible, wait your turn though...

It pays to do your homework on somebody for a gag to hit home :)

Apologies mate. TBH was just trying to get a reaction from your mate. Guess I'll have to settle for this:
You bastard

His career since suggests otherwise, not exactly got to a level Wolves would've ever been aspiring to.

I agree, but I feel that with better coaching, not being hung out to dry in that Albion game he could have been better than low end Champ/high end league 1.

He played 26 games in the season we came 5th as an 18/19 year old, he should have hit on from there really.

He went through a stage of not being able to stay fit, by the time he was back Foley was our first choice RB and he was never displacing him.

Yep he was unfortunate, certainly the best of the trio that came through - Jones, Little, Gobern
