January 2021 Transfer Window

Well, this is all a bit shit.

I think its fair to say Cutrone is not the answer and we do need a striker, at very best Raul plays a brief cameo at the end of the season. Limping along until then will inevitably end with a 15/16/17 placed finish (hopefully). It does feel a bit like we are gambling with the long term plan (assuming there still is one) to save some money in the short term.

What based on the half hour you've seen him so far ?

This thread may as well be closed its clear we aren't signing anyone.

Shi's in fucking hiding and Nuno's gone from saying we need players to saying the solutions are in the squad (so clearly been told there's no money to spend).

Cutrone isn't the second coming but his physicality surely is worth utilizing atm.
My big concern with him is he's only getting 10 minutes at the end of the game when we're chasing an equalizer. I understand he's probably not match fit but surely he could play 30 minutes or so, was surprised he didn't come on at least 15 minutes earlier on Sunday.

Yeah I'm not expecting anything at all now.

Writing off this season 19 games in, if that's what they are essentially doing, puts a lot of expectation and pressure on the work in the summer. Need to strengthen (and they need to be proper "upgrades" IMO) in some important positions. They need to be ready to act quick I think, especially if the Euros is going ahead

Has something been said on not signing anyone? I don't wanna Google it, there might be another picture of BFS

Don't think so, but Nuno said last week that we weren't going to be signing anyone this month, basically.

Edouard is good, I would take him in our current circumstances. Don't think we will be doing that, as when Raul gets back we'd effectively have 3 senior strikers (whether you agree with this or not, seems to be the club's approach).

I'd be focusing on a wide player/forward. Like if we had gone for Hwang last January - don't have any suggestions off top of my head right now though!

Olise?

I get what you say but Neto and Adama aren't going to be displaced any time soon.

Yeah Olise would be good based on reviews and his stats. Would be around £10m, and we've been linked before. If we really did want him thought we would have done it by now mind.

I genuinely thought we had Pepe lined up from Gremio to do that dual striker/wide man option, but him going anywhere has gone very quiet.
The work permit situation could be a big issue there.

I'm sure I read somewhere it opened up for us to sign Hwang back then and Nuno himself vetoed it?

I think unless we've been working on a slow burner of a deal we aren't going to see any incomings. Not the end of the world, unless a couple of the teams below us put together a great run of form and we continue in this rut. I'd hope that both scenarios together are unlikely

Yeah I saw the same thing. Mind you, I think I saw it suggested the same for Dani Olmo too, so could have just been speculation.

This feels like a hell of a gamble of trust in the current team on the coaching sides part. I said to friends on a chat at Xmas that I feel there will be a record this season for a team staying up with a new low amount of points, the bottom has picked up since then but I previously predicted a team could stay up with 21 points. Feel that's closer to about 29 now, so really hope I was right!
