It's Official!!: Europa League Thread

Swap the legs I assume - Celtic are heading to Sweden or Moldova. Atromitos is Athens isn't it?

Yeah Atromitos are from Athens - already got Olympiakos playing the Wednesday in champions league, AEK Athens the Thursday in Europa which leaves the Tuesday but we play east Fife on Sunday so it’s not enough time.

The option to switch the legs about means we’d need to go away to Athens before we play Celtic in the league on the Sunday.

If it’s an option I’m hoping we call off the East Fife game and play Tuesday.

Hope if we get to the group stage that we draw Copenhagen. Maybe Georg Margreitter could be guest of honour?

Copenhagen did lose the shoot out eventually. I could live with Solbakken pitching up to see his team get absolutely annihilated.

We could do Porto, we took all their best players.

I'm only doing the away days if it's a proper decent trip. That is definitely in the right bracket.

Linfield have the great luck to be up against Qarabag, if UEFA's website is to be believed

Porto jump straight into the group stages thanks to their ludicrously high coefficient (#10 overall!) - they're only behind Sevilla and Arsenal in the seedings

With the assistance of Thomas Cook Sport Wolves have been able to source a potential charter flight for fans in the event of both ourselves and Torino progressing to the Europa League play off stage.

In order for the necessary arrangements to be made very quickly should both teams progress at this stage we are asking away season ticket holders to express their potential interest.

As this is a exclusive charter flight it can only take place if all seats on the plane are sold.

The suggested timings are:

Thursday 22nd August

Depart Birmingham Airport 0800 hrs
Arrive Turin Airport 1100 hrs
Depart Turin Airport 2359 hrs
Arrive Birmingham Airport 0059 hrs

The price for the flight will be £459.00 per person (this does not include the match ticket).

Looks like Rangers are going to be playing Legia Warsaw if they finish off the job against Midtjylland. Legia cruising the second leg.

Ararat-Armenia are leading a tight tie with Subartulo Tbilisi (3-2 at the moment). Winners will play F91 Dudelange of Luxembourg so you would expect that to be a clear path to the group.

Guimaraes are smashing Ventspils so they will be playing FCSB or Mleda Boleslav.

Dudelange are ok. Got to the groups last season and didn't disgrace themselves vs Milan and Betis.

Ararat have held on to play Dudelange in the play off round

Guimaraes have won 9-0 on aggregate so that was pretty routine.

Legia are 2-0 up at Atromitos with less than 5 minutes to go.

Legia are in.

Even before tomorrow night's resolution of the third round qualifying the group stage is looking hugely tasty. Pot one of that draw is almost decided. 10 out of the 12 teams who will make Pot 1 are already confirmed. Sevilla, Arsenal, Manchester United, Porto, Roma, Dynamo Kiev, Besiktas, Basel, Sporting, CSKA Moscow.

If we can get past Torino, the chances are we will be in Pot 4, so a really tough group could be on the way. Mind you, other teams in the draw would be hoping to avoid Wolves / Torino as the fourth team as it will make a challenging group.

Ourselves or Midtjylland play Legia next week in Poland. Will wait til Friday morning before booking travel there.

Rangers were Pot 4 last year - Villarreal, Spartak Moscow and Rapid Vienna.

We really should’ve done better, draw at home to Spartak and we missed a sitter, away game we should’ve been 4-2 up going into half time goal wrongly ruled out for offside. Ended up losing 4-3.

Europa groups can be a bit all over the place.

HJK Helsinki 1 up on the night against Riga after 4 minutes. They lead 2-1 on aggregate

Some interesting stuff in early games. Riga have equalised so that is completely level including away goals. Just over 20 minutes left

FC Thun are leading away at Spartak Moscow. The tie is 3-3 on aggregate but Thun will need to score again. Pretty sure Spartak have a decent coefficient, so come on Thun, you little Swiss lovelies.

Yeni Malyataspor are 1 up early against Partizan. 1 more goal would put them through on away goals if there was no reply from the Belgrade side, who DEFINITELY have a better coefficient than we do. I always liked Turkey...

Austria Vienna have an early goal away at Apollon Limmassol. 2-2 on aggregrate but the Cypriots still have the advantage on away goals.

CSKA Sofia down to 10 men very early in their game away at Zorya Luhansk. Its level on aggregate but BIG advantage for the Ukrainian side there.

Torino haven't troubled the scorers in the first half hour in Belarus. They don't need to, obviously.

HJK have retaken the lead so there will be no extra time or penalties in that tie. 16 minutes for Riga to save themselves.

Bnei Yahuda (Israel) have moved ahead in their tie against Neftchi (Armenia). 3-2 on aggregate
FK Suduva have got Maccabi Tel-Aviv in a lot of bother. 2 goals clear in the tie and with 2 away goals in the first match.

Dynamo Tbilisi 1 Feyenoord 1. 5-1 to Feyenoord and an away goal in the bag. That tie is done.

Apollon have equalised against Austria Vienna and now lead on aggregate and with 2 away goals to 1. Also probably done.

Trabzonspor are ahead on the night and on aggregate against Sparta Prague. Pretty sure Sparta have a decent coefficient so that might assist us.

Suduva are now 4-1 up on aggregate so Maccabi Tel-Aviv are toast.

Congratulations to RIGA - the first team through to the play off round tonight. They will play Copenhagen.
