It's Official!!: Europa League Thread

Bumping this for tomorrow as matches start. Everyone is playing Thursday - Thursday in this round, but there will still be some info from Champions League qualifiers to look out for.

As a final thing, AS IT STANDS, we (if we beat Torino) would be the top team in Pot 4 in the group stage draw. So we need to defeat Torino obviously, and hope for just one higher coefficient team to bite the dust in the Playoff round to sneak into Pot 3.

To be brutally honest, Pot 3 versus Pot 4 really is much of a muchness. We are going to get a testing group should we get there.

Maybe a good thing we have Torino then. Not going to be easy, if we get through we're more ready for "bigger" teams

Will have to wait to see the teams that progress/ drop in. But if we do get into the group, considering pot 1 teams should be the strongest, we can’t get the English teams and I’d back us against everyone else in there other than Sevilla and Roma.

I think that is a fair assessment, certainly for the home legs in a group stage.

Quick reminder - in the Champions League qualifiers we want all the favourites to go through, leaving teams with lower coefficients to drop into the Europa group stages.

LASK are already behind to Bruges after the first leg last night. This is good news.

APOEL didn't get a goal against Ajax, but an away goal could be an issue next week. Definitely want Ajax to win that game.

Slavia Prague beating Cluj would be handy as well.

Could do with Rangers beating Legia Warsaw. Not beyond the bounds of possibility.

Three teams dropping into the Europa draw tonight.

FC Krasnodar
Rosenborg
Just waiting on Red Star v Young Boys.

Looks to me like Red Star have gone through on away goals and Young Boys drop into the Europa draw.

Happy days! From what I can see after tonights Champions League results we are now confirmed (should we beat Torino obvs) in Pot 2 or 3.

Spain Getafe CC: 20.713
Belgium Standard Liège CC: 17.500
Winners of Main Match 10
Winners of Champions Match 5
Winners of Main Match 1

We are Main Match 1

There are two Pot 2 / Pot 4 Match-ups (Celtic and Copenhagen are likely to win both ties and take Pot 2 spots)
Further there are a few Pot 2/3/4 match-ups where we are going to need MULTIPLE favourable results to make Pot 2, but at least we are assured of not being in Pot 4 now.

Pot 2 would be excellent, real chance of progressing to knockout stages

It's hugely unlikely. Probably need both Celtic and Copenhagen to fuck up as Feyenoord and PSV are in excellent positions, as are Espanyol.

Could definitely do with Maribor beating Ludogorets I think. I will have a delve into everyone’s coefficient and try and work out what we need for the Pot 2 result but I suspect it would be wedding at Cana levels of miracle.

That is a huge difference in coefficient among the Pot 1 teams. I'm surprised Arsenals's is so much better than Man U.

One's not been out of Europe in donkeys years the other has.

Didn't Man Utd win the Europa League (against Ajax) in 2017? Or is the coefficient raised by Champion's League participation, hence Arsenal's advantaged position?
