Grimsby 0-1 Wolves - FA Cup - verdict thread

Bah. Could have been worse, could have been better. They’re not unbeatable but they’ll be massive favourites.

Decent recent record against them in this competition I suppose.

If you want to be positive about it:

1) They have far more important things to think about, they'll have a CL tie a few days later and are far from guaranteed to qualify for next year's version right now

2) Even Lambert beat them, with Burgoyne in goal, Coady at RB, the fat version of Doherty at LB, and a mighty midfield of Saville, Evans and Edwards

3) We should have got a draw at Anfield over Christmas

4) We can throw absolutely everything we have (not much, I'll grant you) at it

Can see this being the 1745 BBC slot on the Saturday.

They might as well take up residence in The Mount for the week.
There's a plan. Have a whipround on here and book every room for the entire week.

Make them stay in Redwings. See how you like that.

We effectively won at Anfield in 2023 but VAR decided it couldn’t at one of the biggest clubs in the world.
We'll probably still lose 4 nil but I want a petty Wolves fan operating VAR cameras on the day.

Farcical what happened at Liverpool and the collective media/establishment essentially shrugged their shoulders.

Some patronising BS from ex refs and the media after that treated us an insignificant club who should just know our place.

Three awful calls wasn't it.

1) Salah's goal being given, he's bloody offside. Like miles offside. If he's not there then Toti doesn't even try to head it
2) Nunes "offside" when they couldn't see, so how do you know. And no way the linesman gave it in real time
3) Nailed on pen for us just ignored

Then the game a couple of years before that where Neto's goal was disallowed for us when Jonny wasn't offside, and their goal got given even though the ref had clearly blown for handball against Lallana so by whatever stupid rules they had at the time, that should have been that.

Not forgetting the Covid season at Anfield we lost 4-0 but Clive Tyldsley talked about us like we were San Marino visiting Wembley the ass kissing wanker. 2 blatant penalties not given at Molineux in the return fixture either.
Basically they’ve been the spoilt rich kid who always gets his way.

They get dodgy calls in their favour against us all the time, in the same 19/20 game even if Lallana didn't handball it I'm certain van Dijk did but it was a different phase of play or some nonsense. In 18/19 they beat us and Mane was offside for one of his two goals. Not even sure this just applies against us, in general compared to basically any other English club except Man U they generally get the rub of the green. After they knocked us out in 22/23 when they should have been out, they got Brighton in the next round and had loads of decisons in their favour and still lost. Can't say I like playing them.

I know Lallana didn't handball it but the ref 100% blew when he thought he did. Look at Lallana's reaction.

I doubt it.
Wrexham v Chelsea
Mansfield v Arsenal
Newcastle v Man City
Are all getting picked ahead of us. Macclesfield too if they were to win tonight.
