General Wolves News

Fwiw I'm in the camp it was a penalty. His arm is miles away from his body.

I will caveat to say I'm not 100% on the handball rules this season, it did deflect of the defender before his hand. Last season that's enough to rule out the pen wasn't it?

Hopefully Nuno has instructed our lads to fire in shots at will, whenever we get around the edge of the area. Sometimes we’re a little reluctant to have a shot and look for a pass instead, but with the new handball rule I would be smashing it towards goal at every opportunity.

What is the new rule? Does it not matter if the ball deflects off of a body part before it hits a hand any more?

I'm not a ref, but I think it's a bit more nuanced than that. I don't think it's automatically not a handball if the ref still considers the arm in an unnatural position. Although he kicks it onto himself there's no reason for his arm to be out there. If not then VAR cocked up as it clearly did come off him first

"If the ball hits a player who has made their body "unnaturally bigger" then a foul will be awarded. IFAB determine that a hand/arm above shoulder height is rarely a “natural position” with some exceptions such as when a player is falling.

IFAB says that having the hand/arm above shoulder height is rarely a "natural" position and a player is "taking a risk" by having the hand/arm in that position.

Extra leeway will be permitted when it comes to ricocheted handballs when it comes off a nearby player or if they cannot see the ball"

... Suits us and depending on the team that is playing.

FTFY

If a Manchester United player shoots towards goal and the ball strikes an opponent's arm - or if it could have hit an opponent's arm if the wind had changed direction, or it had hit a divot on the pitch, or Manchester United are losing, or if Martial falls over - then a penalty shall be awarded.

Seems pretty clear to me...

Maybe Liverpool too

According to IFAB it is not handball.
The ball defected off his knee, it cannot be handball

Please be true.

Wolves now proposing to credit Olympiacos home tickets as against domestic cup games.

For me, this is nonsense. Absolutely no reason they shouldn’t be capable of being credited against a league game.

There is no comparison between an early round of the League / FA Cup and a Europa league last 16 game.

After a lot of backwards and forwards with the unhelpful/unclear (on purpose in my opinion) ticket office. I have finally got them to confirm in writing that if you have been lumbered with one of these credits but can't make/don't want to go to the ONE cup game THEY are going to choice you will lose the credit completely.

So if like me your not happy to risk losing £99 just because you can't make a date/time that we don't yet know for a game that we don't yet know I'd get onto them and pester for a refund now (they will now offer it on case by case but you may need to really push the issue) while you still can.

Imagine if you're just one of those people who actually trusts our football club with things like this, you might have a big shock to come in the future.

The Renaissance vid that the club put out on the twitters yesterday is worth a watch if you haven't seen it. Got a bit dusty..

Also a decent thread on club financing for those who are interested here

Summary: Fosun have loaned the club £131m interest free to date, on top of the £50m loan we have from Macquarie. It's not up there with Chelsea et al but it's still a fairly sizeable amount. It also shows what a basket case West Ham are to be paying Gold & Sullivan interest on the loans they have made to the club - madness.

Fucking disgraceful isn't it.

Imagine being someone who doesn't pay attention to message boards/social media etc leaves his money in the hands of the club but the game they choose ends up being slected for tv and on of a night he has young kids so can't go at night.......the clubs response "tough thats £76 (2 adults two kids) e'll keep".
