General Wolves News

It's gutting for Cunha, he was in great form and I think another three months up there and he'd have earned himself a move - and you could definitely see him adding value to most (if not all) of the big seven in the PL, but that's gone now, probably until next Summer.

I know Europe was a long shot in the most generous of descriptions, but progress is still important if we want to at least *pretend* to prospective signings that we're worth joining. Ninth in the league with an impressive ppg over the last ~25 games can do a lot in terms of the illusion of ambition.

Instead we decide it's Broja or nothing, and decide to keep running talent into the ground and hoping for the best, because we're owned by fucking morons.

I don't think Cunha was going anyway, we'd need £50m to make it worth our while. Who's doing that?

It's all very well being Mr Angry about Fosun but no-one is buying us and let's be honest, our complaints are pretty small beer given where we are (their ticket pricing is ridiculous and we've without doubt wasted multiple opportunities to push on).

I think another run of 10-12 goal involvements in the remaining 14 games he'd have looked good value at £50-60m tbh. They'd be great numbers, proof he "knows the league", he definitely passes the eye test, works hard, and seems the personality that wouldn't bitch and moan at not starting 50 games a season

Clubs don't have that kind of money though do they, unless they're in the Champions League.

FWIW we didn't really "run Cunha into the ground". He strained a muscle 20 minutes into a match he was always starting either way. We hardly pulled a Deano/Sako with him.

It's not just 20 minutes in a vacuum though. If we hadn't pushed him so hard in the previous forever, his risk level would've been lower.

Yeah he might have got injured anyway, but it's been pretty clear that we've got lads who are clearly fucked still playing 90 mins because we've got no options. Keep doing that and you get injuries.

Yeah, I'm quite happy saying that he'd add value to United, Liverpool or even Arsenal tbh
Arsenal had literally no room to manoeuvre this year. Couldn't even sign Raya properly.

There isn't the money swilling around that you think there is, even at that level.

Is this excluding Lop ignoring him for a while? 😉

I just can't draw such a direct connection on this one, sorry mate. I don't think we've done anything untoward with Cunha's playing time.

With Jeff’s skillz we’d let them sign him on loan for 2 seasons and then pay us off with Nelson and 2m a year for 5 years.

We make less subs than almost every other club in the league and use fewer players. There is a direct correlation between teams who do that and teams who suffer more long term muscle injuries than other clubs.

Something like this has been a long time coming IMO.

Only after they'd spent ~£200M in the summer. They couldn't get Raya because they'd already blown their budget, not because they were skint.

Cunha and Rayan are tied for 9th in the league in number of times subbed off tbf. Come off early 13 times each.

Granted, that's not minutes, so.

Update: at least according to ye olde Transfermarkt, Cunha has played just over 1900' (out of 2160' possible), which is a fair amount. The are other attackers being asked to play more than that, though.

Yeah but they aren't taking a random £50m punt on someone regardless, are they. It wouldn't happen.

How many long term muscle injuries have we had this season?

This is why I'm not sure Neto leaves, not for the sums we want anyway.
It's all made up, innit. Neto will go for way less than Rafael Leão, but I know which I think is the better player.

I'd fear if one of our players had a serious injury the speed that Laurel and Hardy amble on to the pitch
