General Wolves News

Both Hoever and Marcal have played as centre-halves previously, so we're not quite completely out there, plus Jordao should be back by then to add a midfield option. We can also recall MGW in January.

Not exactly brilliant by any stretch of the imagination, but the cupboard isn't quite as bare as being suggested.
No way I'm trusting Marçal with any position right now and Hoever's nowhere near ready for CB.

That's before you get to the fact we'd have no subs.

I suppose we can call Sanderson back in January if we want to. I don't think we would though.

I think I'd prefer Marcel at CB, Berry style wrestling aside, would take him off corner duties at least.

We are chronically short of 1st team player, and I really hope we are doing some serious tracking of players ready to line up some deals for a couple of early signings in January.

Or is that just hope winning out over experience

Marcal has been shite recently, he's also been decent. I don't think we can really turn our noses up at him playing in a back 3 right now. On paper anyway, he's a good enough option.

On the plus side, the amount of crossing he'd do in a back 3 is negligible.

Crappy penalty aside he actually hasn't done too much wrong defensively. He didn't on Sunday either.

It's just he looks truly appalling on the ball most of the time, like "how did you ever get a contract anywhere" level.

Yep, there has to be an element of that on the manager asking him to do things he can't really do.

He should be able to play five yard passes and stuff, he genuinely looks amateur at times.

He doesn't really get beaten one on one though and he covers round pretty well, if you just judged his defensive work then he'd be ok.

He was constantly out of position on Sunday, too slow to the press and not strong enough on the ball.

Other than that he was......shit.

He's a wank footballer.

I’d be a bit worried about putting the mighty 5ft10 Marcal in a back 3 that already struggles physically and a team that isn’t exactly blessed with height.

Will Raul be out for the villa game?

I've seen it reported that Brazil will again call up a number of Premier League players, but that they are expectant that a compromise will be reached between all the authorities involved that will mean no one misses any games. Presumably Mexico expect similar dispensation..?

Marcal was actually excellent on the left of a back three for Lyon in the season before he joined us. Looks loads more suited to that position in terms of his attributes but there’s obviously something stopping both managers picking him there (either his love of yellow cards or lack of height, I guess).

I'm guessing at Lyon he didn't have to travel with the ball from deep positions and try passing on the floor to the front players as Bruno likes the CB's to do.

Mail suggesting we are about to give Adama a new contract on £100k+ a week 🤯🤯

Par for the course now. 100k a week + will be standard for an average Premier League player soon.

Will Raul be out for the villa game?

Nope. Government has said all double jabbed players can have the exemption from hotel quarantine. They can quarantine at home and are allowed out to train and to play. We know our entire squad is double jabbed so Raul can play.

Elephant in the room is that it won’t be too hard to work out who hasn’t been vaccinated which is basically making their private medical choice public. That’s not a good thing.
