Farage Ltd and Similar Watch

Part of me just wants them to let them (the supporters) have the win and let them see what such a shit show it will inevitably be.

But the rest of me is too rationale for that and I’d hate to see damage it would cause to our society.

If it does happen then either won’t be returning or will be leaving at the first opportunity.
Yeah, stay in Oz mate where at least the racism and white entitlement is far more out in the open...

Yeah I know what you mean.

However I also think they'll still be so pig headed they'll make excuses for Reform anyway.

Like that dog in a burning building meme "everything is fine"

It'll be like Brexit, where there's no accountability from anyone on the Leave side, it's just someone else's fault or 'we didn't get a true Brexit' or some other bollocks

Polanski has made them genuine contenders in a matter of months. Polling in second place with some firms. There's a huge space for them too with Starmer trying to grab Reform votes. They'll also be the only party with a pledge to rejoin the EU. (Libs are less clear)

I do hear you though.

I've previously had the POV that unashamedly left wing projects are never going to get into government in this country as the progressive vote is usually so split and unstable and there's so much media and public fear-mongering (a very small percentage of it justified), but maybe the current climate is weird enough to allow it.

You need 326 seats to have a majority.

I think Deutsch summed it up best, where are they (Reform) going to find that many individuals that won't have so much shit in their past that they'd be palatable to the electorate in sufficient numbers.

I don't see it personally.
The skeletons in the cupboard seem to be found after they’ve been elected so it won’t be a major issue, especially now Boris and Trump have shown unpalatable behaviour is acceptable to enough of the electorate to win an election.

That’s fine and I get that, but I think you’ve given quite a good example of yourself being embarrassed/regretful by things you’ve done as a kid (haven’t we all) whereas I’m willing to bet good money Farage isn’t.
From leeds for Europe;

I believe strongly in the idea that people can be absolved of their past sins, especially the stupid and hateful things said at thirteen. Who among us can claim their early teens as a time of great wisdom and empathy?

But Farage’s case is different for one simple reason: he’s still doing it. His entire political project is merely the scaled-up version of that racist schoolyard bullying, honing down ham-fisted slurs into dog-whistles and mass deportation policies that inflict real-world violence on people just going about their lives.

And Farage himself makes his lack of remorse abundantly clear in how he chose to address the allegations.

In news that will surprise no one, Jonathan Gullis (remember him) the ex Tory MP has joined reform

What makes it even more interesting, in the light of the problems Reform Ltd has had with it's various representatives Richard Tice said this about Gullis in 2024...

"With a special Easter message to Tory MP and Deputy Chairman Jonathan Gullis: Given the multiple bits of embarrassing personal information we have on you, I suggest you pipe down on your attacks against me."

Why would you accept someone who you have "multiple bits of embarrassing personal information" into your party?

Someone said earlier in the thread where are they going to find viable candidates to run for election. These ex Tories are perfect fodder to run for them, what with their "experience in government" rather than some of the complete reprobates they had in the local elections.

Can’t get a builder? The Mail told all the Polish builders to go home…so they have...
