Akinbiyi and Afobe were about that, but went upwards, Nunes wasn't good, Ruddy was replaced but stayed, Bonatini loaned out but still on the books. Can't think of anyone else comparable.

Stones fan here. He is probably our joint best manager in the history of the club, no one will forget the result at Ipswich. the only reason we never went up with him in charge was the tiny budget our owners gave him. He turned many players from the league below or mid table teams into national league and football league players.
The general understanding for his departure is his uncertainty with regards to the club's ongoing takeover, and budget concerns for next season.
I really think he could do a job at a national league or football league side. maybe even as a defensive coach for someone higher up the pyramid.
We'll regret him going i think.
