Ex-Wolf Watch

Jordan Graham getting a bit of work on SSN now. Good on him, sadly looks like his playing career is done after so many bad injuries, he's only turned 31 this month as well.

And we wouldn't have had our run to the semi final or so many special moments like Man City at home or Newcastle away. (y)
So you say.

It's a Sliding Doors moment for sure as he wouldn't have had any kind of career of note without that bespoke role, he's always been a horrible RB or LB in a four, he isn't a conventional wing back and no-one else would have given him (or even been able to give him) the role that Nuno handed him, and he's been shocking for everyone since Nuno left Wolves.

Edit: Actually since HE left Wolves, momentarily forgot he went before Nuno did. And that's nearly 6 years ago now! Absolutely dire for Spurs, weirdo move to Atletico which was Jorge collecting one of his drinks orders, an absolute joke we brought him back (10 or so halfway competent games at RCH under Vitor does not merit whatever we've paid him for 3 years, when he was unemployed and no-one wanted him)

No, it's just a fact.
It's not a fact, certainly not the cup run point anyway and neither is anything Deutsch says to counter. Both of you don't know what would have happened if Doherty had left earlier, who'd have played that position, what their success would or wouldn't have been like and the impact positive or negative on the side. There's no definitive answer which is why having the same none discussion every fortnight is so fucking tedious.

I dare say whoever we had at right wing back that season we would still have likely got promoted. We would then have made a decision (as we did with Barry Douglas on the other side) and replaced them if we deemed necessary.

Then as TT says whatever would have happened after that is a moot point as we'll never know.

To be fair the only argument I make on the hypothetical side is that if we'd just cast him aside in 2017 (as his performances, fitness and attitude to that point merited) then I am 99% sure he would have spent the remainder of his career in League One, at absolute best (and I'm being generous there).

As it is it's 2026 and he has played Premier League football this year, somehow.

We wouldn't have had the moments against City or Newcastle if he'd left, of course that's a fact.

He also scored and assisted goals in the cup run (and in Europe).

Just joined training again but I’ll be surprised if he plays as high as league 1 again

It's just so binary, anything could have happened in those games with another player on the pitch for good or bad. What if in the Cup semi another wing back maybe comes out and presses for their first goal rather than standing nowhere behind the centre half and we make the final? The following season we make Europe again because this other player isn't waving his arms around in the last minute against Burnley. Equally binary, equally reductive.
