He was 37 and he’d played 1 league game the previous season (which he’d got injured in). Only played 15 the year before too.

I’m not too sure what he expected.

Agreed - he was with us for 10 years and was no Maldini for the vast majority of it. Three good seasons at the very best, a couple of okay campaigns and the rest of the time he was poor, injured or on loan.

Jody always seemed a good bloke and good pro; I’m not certain he’s being objective in that retelling, though. And that’s totally fair, IMO, given all what else he was going through. Club got relegated. Kid diagnosed with leukemia. New boss was skeptical. The end of his playing career looming regardless.

That is a lot of heavy shit all at once.

He got his sympathy contract. He played 1 game in 2011/12 and then we gave him an extra year where he played 0 games.

Would still have been better than Johnson, Gorkss, Zubar or Margreitter.
