Maybe I'm being a bit out of the loop but I don't see the issue. We should respect personal lives and it doesn't matter if someone is gay. the same way that it doesn't matter if someone is vegetarian as long as they give their all. Surely that's how most normal people feel about players?

re the transfer windows, hasn't bruno suggested it will take 3 or 4 windows to get the squad suited to his style?

not sure we should be so under confident going into this game. we're unbeaten in 5 league games, and won 4 of those. everton are not on a good run, and struggle to keep a clean sheet. we should be going into the game with some optimism given we are at home.

Back to the match. .
Everton form is quite poor coming into this match , losing away to Villa plus losing at home twice in a row . Drew with Manchester Utd as well .
We have to be getting something out of this .

Being gay is not a 'choice' - rather its something you're essentially born as being. Being vegetarian is a choice.

I wouldn't read much into his comment there, his English is still patchy so he's probably not articulated his point in the way he meant.

I hadn't even thought about how conflating the two could be perceived but that does make me understand why people don't think it's a great snippet.

Hopefully he's saying to Jeff, See, I tried to play the nice football you wanted and look what happened, we lost. Now I've got to play this way until you get me some more players.
We aren't playing any differently, he hasn't changed anything tactically.

It's individuals not performing as well (for no reward) as they were.

Same formation, same duties, same approach, same high line, same style. Nothing has changed, he hasn't set us up any differently, he hasn't made any alterations to make us more defensive.

One difference would be we'll never know how we'd have approached the rest of the game if Adama had scored at Leicester or Trincao had scored at home to United. Might have tried to sit on a 1-0 lead there, maybe that's what he does. But we never led in any of those games so we just kept attacking.

Against Spurs and Brentford at home we aggressively pressed as soon as we lost the ball. It worked against Spurs forcing them to hoof long and as Kane wasn’t playing they had nothing to aim at. It didn’t work against Brentford as they just chipped it into Toney.

That hasn’t happened in any game Since.

The press has pretty much completely gone out of possession, movement off the ball has declined horribly (particularly early runs in behind which presented Traore with good chances in the early games), central midfield two don't appear to be getting as high up the pitch as they did in the first games.

To my eye there are plenty of small differences, you could attribute most to individuals or coaches, when they happen simultaneously then it makes a significant impact on the overall result.

I don't think in any of the games they've won they've even started with such an attacking mindset as they did in the early games so the thinking that they'd maybe have dropped off into similar style in those first games doesn't wash with me. I think the whole thing has generally been reined in a little bit, either through Lage recognising shortfalls, players losing a bit of faith in the new approach or just poor individual performance letting them down.

Saying it's the same players in the same formation, meaning it's the same approach just seems lazy to me, it's not that black and white.

I'm no expert in tactics but I find it hard to imagine that in the briefing auditorium he had installed at the training ground he set out how he wanted to play against Leicester and then has just said in every pre match briefing since, words to the effect of: ok lads, more of the same please.

Sure there will be a multitude of small adjustments as the season progresses that may not be obvious, but added together have a distinct effect on the overall approach. One thing that I can remember for example is someone (can't remember who) noticed Semedo had become reluctant to drive towards to the byline, think it was pointed out this must have been a tactical instruction as he'd been doing it in the early weeks of the season.

Lage - points on the board - going well. Hope Nuno get's sacked soon.

Much fluff spoken on here but easy in hindsight.

Love to read on here people saying do this, do that and then pointing to it when it happens. ( Not often )

I'm just seeing Hwang and the Mexican with a turbulent Podence behind them.

Not got a clue about midfield, really like Killman and we need a left back.

Bar the formation everything in that paragraph seems very wrong to me.

We are playing differently and I'm really surprised you can't see it*

*I don't mean to come across as condescending.

I'm going to hope this is a combination of being lost in translation and maybe yearning for the days when it isn't needed to be made a big deal of anymore?

But, uh, yeah, I certainly am not as oppressed as the LGBT+ community, no matter how few animals I consume.

We are playing it poorly if so..I don't see any major changes tactically but there must be something for such a variance, players don't usually swing this much in performance.

Everton will be hurting from last week's shocker against Watford. Need to beware of a backlash. We do not want to give them an easy ride, as Spurs did to United yesterday! Hope we take the game to the scousers and try to pile on more hurt.
