Climate Change Debate

Yep, "global warming" is basically an increase in the extremes of each season. So colder winters are to be expected.

47 degrees today in my city. I went to an open air cinema at 1.30am, it was 31 degrees then. Airconditioning on full blast. San Miguel flowing freely and the Tour de France on TV. I think a siesta is on the cards.

Blimey. I don't think I could stand that.

Here in the UK though that is complicated by the jetstream, gulf stream and the mid Atlantic oscillation. Ultimately the jetstream usually decides what we get though.

I'd rather to die from heat exhaustion than have to endure 47 degrees.

I think he's on about today while he's watching TV.

Yeah I misread the punctuation so went with a different angle on the edit.

I went to Madrid in early September a few years ago and it hit 40 degrees on a couple of the days. So wearing, I did the Bernabeu tour and I was knackered from walking round the pitch, this was when I was properly fit as well.

I had my stag do in Seville in mid August. Extreme alcohol consumption + that kind of heat = a very ill Vis.

Alchol, as I'm sure you know is a diuretic and can leave you even more prone to dehydration in extreme heat.

Nobel Prize winning physicist Ivar Giaver (sp) has said that Obama is "dead wrong" when he calls global warming a major threat to the world.

Technically he's right. It's a major threat to life, not the planet.

We need to ban this shit.

Between the dates June 17 and June 24, 2015, Oklahoma was jolted by 35 earthquakes greater than magnitude 3.0 due to fracking and fracking wastewater injection activities, the Oklahoma Geological Survey (OGS) has confirmed — this, in a state that experienced less than two such quakes per year before 2009. -

It's easier to terrorise communities than invest in alternatives.

Has anyone got any trite links to blogs that can refute this?

46 degrees again today, in Cordoba. Forest fires raging near Cazorla, in the province of Jaen. this is about 100 miles from where i live.
The right wing government passed a new law today, saying that any forests burnt down, can be built on. Before this new law was passed, you had to wait for over 30 years to build on land, which had once had a forest there. Over 50% of all forest fires in Spain, are started deliberately. Quite often, the land which once had a forest there, has fantastic sea views.

Not as such. I'm sure the IEE will have.

Or even the IET.
I was aware of some noise published about Oklahoma some weeks ago. That article seems to be an uber-alarmist interpretation when there could be simple historical explanations due to historical conventional oil recovery analogous to events that were common place related to the coal industry in the UK. I will endeavour to seek other views over the next couple of days.
