Strange interview.

Apparently the production of concrete amounts to 8% of carbon-dioxide emissions worldwide (in contrast to air travel which is 2.5%)

I notice Cameron is also a self-confessed hypocrite. Hope he enjoyed his two long road trips and his time in Canada in 2019.

Shame many youngsters may not have these freedoms in the future.

Bjorn Lomborg is a rare voice of reason in a world that has gone insane with climate change politics.

Personally, I very much doubt the whole hypothesis of climate change, but Mr. Lomborg has always promoted a rationale and pragmatic way forward that would not bankrupt the Western world's economy.
 
I can't wait until we make the transition to low or zero carbon, especially in vehicles. Its fascinating to me to see how the technology will develop. I've got a feeling that in years to come they'll find all sorts of long term unpleasant health effects of having diesel fumes pumped into the air for decades.

I'm in my late 30's and it's mad to think my 2 year old will probably never drive a combustion engine vehicle, if he ever needs to drive a car at all. It'll be seen as an antiquated technology the idea that smoke came out or the back of a car. It'll have huge ramifications for world politics as everything is currently shaped by our reliance on fossil fuels.

Go on then, why do you doubt the 'hypothesis of climate change'? FYI its not a hypothesis, but carry on.

I'm fairly sure the link between air pollution and negative impacts on health have already been established.

Haha - yeah of course your right. I was clumsily trying to say that I think many more consequences will come to light that we don't have the full picture on at the moment. To the extent that future generations will look back in hindsight and regard us as insane. The same way we look back now at how they used to use radioactive materials to illuminate watch hands or use lead based makeup.

Unbelievable that it was still being used up until as recently as July this year in Algeria as well.

On diesel, Parkinson's is one disease that's been linked relatively recently, I think alot more will follow in the years to come.
 
Even if you are sceptical of man made climate change, the alternative is to carry on as normal burning a finite resource. The best case scenario is our actions don't make the planet uninhabitable and then eventually we'll have to make the switch anyway.

Logically to carry on as we are, you'd have to be 100% certain that 99% of scientists have got it completely wrong and everything will be fine. If you allow for the fact there's even a slight chance they're right, it makes no sense to carry on as we are.

Let's say you rate the likelihood that the scientists are wrong at 90%, which is pretty high, that means there's a 10% chance they're right. If someone handed you a gun and told you there was a bullet in one of its 10 chambers, would you put it to your head and pull the trigger? As that's essentially what we'd be doing but on a planetary scale. All for the sake of burning fossil fuels a little bit longer.
 
Not entirely convinced by climate change ( or global warming as they used to call it ). In fact like most things it seems more of a cult/global narrative than something carefully considered and debated by Scientists ie if you don't fit the global narrative you get cancelled.

The biggest threat to mankind is consumption of finite resources.

Following the Industrial Revolution consumption was encouraged (it set the people free) and was even fuelled through debt and whatever else seemed appropriate. It gave aspiration to the masses and also kept the 'elites' firmly nestled at the top of the pyramid.
Inevitably the economic system started to crash heavily in 2008 and the decline of society/austerity built up speed. The age of consumption is over - it doesn't fit the blueprint. The economy has been falsified ever since to the point the interest on national debt alone (each year) is equivalent to the combined budget of defence and NHS.

The Re-set / Fourth Industrial Revolution is upon us and you can be sure the status quo will remain the same in terms of who holds the wealth and who writes global strategy/narratives. The strategy seems written by the unelected at places like the WEF in Davos with even Charlie getting in on the act. Technocracy/ Corporatocracy. Interesting that two corporations seems to control all other corporations ( Vanguard/BlackRock ).

How life changes, freedoms are restricted and how far we go towards Serfdom is anybody's guess, but my overriding sense is that humanity is saving and preserving the lifestyle of the few ( the hypocrites) rather than saving the planet. Tackling deforestation, reducing waste/plastic and keeping control of consumption is vital, it's a winner - but my concern is in the small details and how this will all affect the minions. Aspiration or Serfdom ? Freedom or Control ?

No disrespect intended but is everything a Capitalist plot to you ? Aspiration or serfdom won't matter a jot in a few generations time

Hi Paul. Be assured I do not feel disrespected. Think the memes are fun and I can take it. Cunt, crank whatever it's all good.

I wouldn't call it a plot more a natural progression. Every system seems to have a few 'elites' and the rest of us get thrown some scraps - some prosper from the scraps the others don't. The few at the top need to keep the rest happy (or control them if they can't). I just don't get bought off, I am not fearful and I am not naturally inclined to follow a narrative mandated by the few. I don't want their scraps if it means others suffer.
